Horrible hard bed. Neglected hotel, avoid like the plague. When we arrived the bar was closed as the pipes were being cleaned. No food/ breakfast available. Room was tatty, marks all over the walls. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned. False nail in the bath

Visited The Bev Hotel recently and while the place looks smart with decent decor, the experience was a bit mixed. There was a function on, which meant service at the bar was limited β€” I wasn’t able to order a drink using card due to short staffing, which was frustrating. It’s understandable things get busy, but a heads-up or alternative option would’ve helped. Overall, the setting was nice, but the service could definitely be improved.

My daughters and I were very disappointed in our hotel room. It smells of damp, there are holes in the curtains, there was no headboard on the very hard double bed. Only 2 towels for 3 guests, no bath mat. The staircase to the rooms is very old and worn, the hand rail looks like it might come off it you pull too hard. The lady was very nice but don't book this for anything special. There was plenty of hot water for a bath and the bathroom was clean. There was loads of rubbish outside our balcony door, which was also locked. Lots of main road traffic noise incase you're hoping for a good sleep.

The stay ended before it even began. The receptionist was incredibly disconnected and acted like they were made to work by force, no helpful gestures or offers of any help. When basic requests like an extra pillow were made it seemed like we were asking for too much from them. I get customers can be tough but it’s not the sort of attitude you expect from any hotel be it 1 or 5 star. To be more specific, the female receptionist became very defensive and then played the victim when asked why their service was so poor. I get rules are rules, but almost crying over a pillow request was just too much, so I had to practically beg for the money back which was done rudely and abruptly by the hotel manager, shoving a card machine in my face and telling me to leave. Absolute joke of an establishment - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Firstly, it's not a 4 - or 5-star hotel. the room is spotlessly clean, with fresh bedding and clean towels, there is a modern TV. The bed is modern and comfy, the furniture is old but clean,( probably worth a few quid at the antiques road show), everything else is tip top. The only fault is that the bedside lamps bulb has gone, not the end of the world, I'll stay here again if I'm in the area.

Arrived after a 3hr journey, hotel looked nice downstairs unfortunately the room was a different matter! Firstly took ages to get the door key to actually unlock the door, awaiting us inside were patches of bare unpainted plaster, torn and peeling wallpaper, water stains, dirty and stained carpet, heating on full blast to point it was like an oven and couldnt turn it down as the knob on the radiator was missing, mould on windows and in bathroom, strong urine smell in bathroom, unclean floor with silverfish all over it, splashes of some liquid or bodily fluid all down one wall and inside of bathroom door which we couldn't identify, you could feel every spring in all the mattresses and this was meant to be a "Deluxe Family Room"! There was no way we could stay in that so after an unsuccessful drive around at 12.30am we ended up on a relatives sofas for the rest of the early hours on the day of the family funeral we had travelled to attend. The only good thing I can say is that when I went back later that day they gave me a refund straight away, no questions asked...literally no questions asked as to what the issues were with the room and no apology for the state of the room and knowingly letting it out to us or for the inconvenience it caused. My advice is avoid!

PLEASE BEWARE! We had family come down from York for a funeral, they ended up coming to stay at our house at one in the morning (on the day of the funeral!) to sleep on the sofas. The family room they booked was filthy, there was mould that had been painted over in the bathroom, the room smelt strongly of urine, and to top it off there were silverfish crawling about in the beds and on the bathroom floor. Absolutely appalling. Went back the next day to complain, and got them a refund. Should have read the reviews before booking!

We didn't stay at the hotel We had our funeral wake for 60 in the garden Room. All the hotel staff were excellent and very supportive. The food was lovely and freshly cooked with the buffet being continually replenished. All excellent would recommend the venue. Good access and parking.
