Has our team Christmas dinner here last night and had a great experience. The food was was lovely and our servers were excellent, especially Joanne, who although she was new and a little unsure, she really did her best to make sure we were happy, fed and watered. The tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly and the advice for three to share it was spot on.
Great! Had a perfect time, tasty food and very responsive staff. It was a Sunday at 20:45 and kitchen literally everywhere was closed, we called and that was the only place who had food available. The food was delicious, staff friendly and service fast and nice. Recommend
Quite a disappointment. We ordered a lot of meat, but about half of it came burnt. The beef cheek was delicious, and one of the fillet steaks was good. However, the sirloin steak, which we asked for medium, was very well done — probably because it was thin and served on a hot skillet, so it kept cooking on the way. The lamb chops were completely burnt. At the beginning, we asked for the dessert menu but were told it would be offered at the end of the meal. In the end, no one brought it — though by that point, we didn’t really want it anymore.
Braised beef cheek was probably the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time, meal was faultless, staff lovely. Guinness excellent (not a short pour, I took a sip!) I went late on a Sunday night so it was quieter. Absolute gem of a place, will be back.
Upstairs from the main bar is a very well decorated restaurant. The servers are very polite and attentive. We had the beef roast and shared some scallops and both were delicious. Good portion sizes. Would reccomend
Had to visit this pub as this is where my Grandad used to drink. It has a beautiful atmosphere when you walk in and lots of original features. The bar staff are friendly and particularly the bar owner James made us feel really welcome. The pints of Guinness were top quality, and for a Friday night we even got seats at the bar so bonus! The food looked and smelled amazing so will check out the menu next time we're over.
First time ever eating here. Like being transported back in time in a good way. No frills - a real old style bar and restaurant like your parents might have went to. Had a delicious salmon paté for starters. Some of the bread with it seemed a little stale but overall lovely. Chicken goujons for main were great but could have used a bit more garlic aioli with it. The Irish Stout Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert was stunning. Quite light considering and brimming with Treacle flavour. The servers were clearly rushed off their feet so be patient. I'd go back for sure.
A nice bar with good food. They were very busy and we were given lots of notice that our order would be slower as a result. Love the honesty!! Steaks smelt and looked amazing!!
I had a quick trip over to Belfast for a beautiful woodland wedding, but as always I found a bit of time to sneak a few pubs in. When you walk in your eyes will lock onto the beautiful mahogany central bar and the numerous guinness pumps. Even though it was a short visit the staff were super friendly and attentive - which is what you love to experience when you’re visiting a new pub and a city for the first time.
Got to spend a day here while waiting on an evening flight back to Scotland. Staff are welcoming and friendly, great selection of drinks. Always a good pint poured. Good selection of food on offer. The roast beef dinner is incredible. If I'm ever back in Belfast 100% will be revisiting.
