We called in on a very wet & windy day - without a booking for 6. Delightful ground of house, with a warm welcome. Interesting menu with plenty of choice. Excellent wine selection too. Generous portions and very tasty. Will definitely be back. Served by Rain - thank you

Fantastic. Not sure why some people have left bad reviews about the food, it was excellent. The service was great too. I’m not staying here, so can’t comment on the rooms, but based on today’s experience I’d happily come back. Eden was our waitress and she was absolutely lovely, friendly, attentive and really made the visit feel special. Thank you!

I had a wonderful meal at the Hope and Anchor in Devon. The steak was cooked absolutely perfectly, medium rare and the duck starter was delicious—well worth the little wait. It was a bit dark upstairs, but the lovely sea view more than made up for it. The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout, and we finished with a fantastic sticky toffee pudding. Overall, a great experience that I’d definitely recommend.

We had a lovely 10 year anniversary lunch, they even treated us to a beer and wine as we didn’t need dessert. A window by the bay, just perfect! The food was absolutely superb and so fresh. Our waitress, Rhiannon, was lovely and very attentive. We would highly recommend here! Can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

We have been to the Hope & Anchor many times but have never stayed. We booked two rooms for a trip to celebrate our grandson's birthday as he loves Hope Cove. The sea view from both rooms was excellent. The rooms are beautiful - especially the family room - and spotlessly clean. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room, with bottles of milk and water in the fridge. Breakfast was gorgeous and the staff were absolutely delightful. Would strongly recommend to absolutely anyone. We had a large family dinner during our stay and the food was wonderful.

DM me the restaurant was not my idea of a good dining experience Always give a chance to redeem itself second evening faultless Generally the hotel is great ,position is outstanding , the bar and restaurant staff are so friendly but ..... The kitchen needs to up its game , it can't produce the basic items toast at breakfast is indescribably poor , similarly bacon and poached eggs indifferent . The menu leads to believe that you will enjoy a culinary masterclass and the tariffs reflect this but I resorted to burger and fries for sustenance .

We came here with our dog, and the staff were so accommodating. Booking was very easy, and they didn’t mind that we had turned up for our table early. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Our food and drinks were served quickly, and the roast pork was delicious. Would absolutely visit again.

Wonderful, cosy room with view of Burgh Island and the sea. Spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. Sparkling, well equipped bathroom. Great coffee and real milk in the room. Tasty dinner and great full English breakfast. Highly recommended

We were a party of 6 that arrived an hour early due to the very windy weather. We were made to feel extremely welcome and had a few drinks before dining. Couldn't fault the food at all with great service and all food arriving in good time and hot. All the staff were very friendly, had a great sense of humour very polite and helped make our evening special. Great experience and hope to return when next in the area

We have visited a few times for drinks on the balcony. Today we had a lovely meal out with the family. They were brilliant at checking for allergens for us as daughter has a dairy allergy. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were great. The veg and fish were so fresh. The waiting staff were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit. Also you can get a great view of the sun setting over hope cove from their balcony seating area.
