My Family and I had a 1 night stay at Holden House as we were celebrating a family wedding We booked most of the rooms. Would highly recommend. Lovely accommodation. Beautiful setting. River one side canal other with Heritage museum and lots of wild life. Our hosts prepared a lovely glass of bubbly before we left. Wished we could have stayed longer. Hosts very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. Nothing was too much for them. Andy even checked my tyre pressures as a warning light came on. Breakfast was 10/10 A big thankyou to you both for making us so welcome and taking care of us

Fantastic, won't hesitate to stay again. They know how to cook bacon properly! Decent shower and friendly hosts. Good walk along the canal to a couple of pubs.

Anna and everyone at Holden House made our stay easy (which matters a lot for us, coming from the US and being under some specific scheduling pressures) and an absolute pleasure! The property is lovely, and in a beautiful spot right between the River Trent and the Trent and Mersey Canal. The king room overlooking the River Trent is well appointed with a clean and modern bathroom, an amazing view, and was quiet at night. The bed was quite comfortable for both of us, and we had no issues with anything like power (plenty of outlets with USB on each side of the bed for nighttime charging of phones or tablets and enough room around the receptacles to use UK/US adapters for a few small electronics we brought which were 240/50Hz capable but needed the appropriate plug configuration) or the wifi, which was rock solid throughout (and necessary for us as we made quite a few additional reservations and scheduled events during our stay). Adjustable radiators and towel rails made it easy for the room to be at a comfortable temperature. Amenities in the room included fluffy towels and robes, a kettle and selection of teas and instant coffee and bottled water and even a few snacks to welcome us after a couple of days of cancelled and delayed flights. Breakfast in the dining room was extremely convenient and comfortable each morning, with flexibility in terms of the type of breakfast preferred being set up in advance when needed. It was a wonderful mix of “a proper hotel breakfast” and “breakfast with friends”. As Anna knew of some of our daytime activities, she even coordinated with us in advance to help with our off-property lunches. Anna and Andy had a wealth of information about the local SkyLink Derby bus service, the nearby restaurants and pubs, and pleasant walks nearby during our off-hours. We felt absolutely welcomed throughout. We hope to stay again in the future whenever we’ll be in the area but also feel like we’d be welcome to sit and chat to catch up for a bit even if we weren’t staying as guests. That can be rare in the industry, but Holden House and everyone making it what is is are definitely a perfect example of hospitality. Bonus pics with the Aurora overhead!

Absolutely lovely B&B Owners were very welcoming and friendly. The room was well decorated and very clean. Bathroom was amazing and spacious. Breakfast was very tasty and just the right amount to start the day. There is on site parking and the surrounding area is beautiful with the canal and river. Local pubs and eating places within a short walking distance too. It's not the cheapest but we'll worth the expense

Nice B&B in a pretty location. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The room was newly refurbished and was very nicely done. Breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. The only downside was my room was next to the road and the windows were the original ones so were either wide open or shut so the room did get quite warm. Overall though a lovely B&B which when fully refurbished will be one of the best places to stay within the village it is set it.

Just arrived back from Holden House. Very friendly hosts who can't do enough for you. Breakfast was tasty and consistent on both mornings. The location is picturesque and located right on the River Trent. Our room was clean and tidy but can do with a make over they owners will be doing this early next year. I can recommend this hotel as the location is relaxing and the hosts are very nice people.
