Richard and Caroline were great (and forgiving - I accidentally overflowed a sink) hosts. The Duchy is a well appointed and well kept bed and breakfast in the heart of Dartmoor, with great breakfasts to order and Caroline’s homemade bread. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it highly.

We had a wonderful time at Duchy House. The room was comfortable, so were the beds. The breakfast was really great and everybody was nice and helpful. For dinner we can recommend the Burrator Inn in Dousland, which is just a 10-minute drive away along a scenic street through the beautiful landscape.

We had a lovely stay at Duchy House. The communication was great so the self check in was seamless. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed for a short stay and a home from home feeling. Even a lovely home made treat to have with your cuppa. Nice touch! Host gave great advice for a fab short evening local walk to watch the sunset after our delicious meal at the local pub which was a couple of minutes walk from the b and b. Breakfast at Duchy House was also delicious! We loved our brief stay here as part of our short motorbike tour of Devon and Cornwall…onsite parking for our bikes was also a bonus! Highly recommend this little gem in beautiful Dartmoor!

We only had reason to stay for 1 night but everything about our stay was perfect! The owners were attentive and where possible helped us with any issue we had. The room was really well appointed and maintained. It looked and felt as if it had recently refurbished, but after a chat with the owners we found out it had been refurbished 4 years previously but clearly it was cleaned and maintained with every care The breakfast was made with locally sourced ingredients which made it exceptional

The three of us had a wonderful stay at Duchy House. Caroline was a welcoming host and the accommodation is exceptional. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean and stocked with toiletries. We enjoyed a home cooked breakfast with plenty to choose from. A great place to stay for exploring the Dartmoor National Park.

This is an award winning B&B very close to the prison, pub, and visitor centre. Caroline and her husband are very friendly and accommodating if I could give ten stars I would. it’s the best place to stay in Princtown and very central to visit other areas of Dartmoor

We had a great experience staying at Duchy House. The room was cosy and well supplied for our length of stay. The price was very reasonable and competitive for the area. Breakfast choices were varied (variety of cooked and lighter meals) and were all very tasty. One highlight of the breakfast was the chance to try Hog's Pudding which I had not had the pleasure of coming across before. The packed lunches were also very handy to have for walkers and were reasonable when compared to other lunch options available for takeaway in Princetown. Richard and Caroline were great hosts and always made sure that we were comfortable during the length of our stay. I also really liked that they sent an information pack prior to our stay, with food/drink recommendations in the surrounding area (don't miss some of the discount cards they have in the lobby!). The location was also very handy to explore a majority of the moor, as you have easy access to the main roads ensuring that trips to destinations were relatively short. All in all, a great B&B with generous hosts and lots of charm 5/5.

It was a wonderful experience, a 5-star welcome but in an informal and familiar context. Comfortable and spacious room, rich and varied breakfast, welcoming environment. Within walking distance of the prison, information center and in the heart of Dartmoor. Finally, Richard and Caroline are wonderful hosts. Hope to return soon for new walks on the beautiful moor.

We had a great experience staying at the Duchy House Bed and Breakfast, it’s in a great location for exploring the great outdoors of Dartmoor. We wanted somewhere on the moor, where we could do some mountain biking, away from the crowds, and Princetown turned out to be a great central location, with an array of good cycle trails and bridleways in every direction. Duchy House Bed and Breakfast is a real gem of a B&B. The house is simply beautiful, you could tell the proprietors put a lot of work in, keeping the place spotlessly clean, immaculately presented with classy décor, and set with interesting & informative fine detail. Our room was light and spacious, the bathroom was modern, with a great shower, our bed was clean and comfortable. Even with our window wide open at night, the place was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was flawless, our host was very attentive and simply could not have done more to make us feel welcome and provided everything you would expect. The full Dartmoor breakfast was beautifully cooked and kept us going for the whole day. Generally, our hosts were very welcoming and, very happy to chat, and share common knowledge of the local area, with their own recommendations, which also turned out to be flawless. Whether you are off road cycling, on road cycling or hiking or just exploring Dartmoor and want somewhere slightly remote, quiet, and away from the crowds, then I’d highly recommend Duchy House.

This is a lovely b&b. Princetown is a great location to explore the wilder parts of the moor and this is the place to stay to do that. The room was great, the hosts we're great and there was a lovely choice for breakfast. They also provided me with a packed lunch which was very enjoyable later that day on my hike. Highly recommended.
