The class instructors are amazing and q credit to the gym, I do not want this review to reflect on them as they are the only reason I have kept my membership for this long. The prices keep going up but that is not reflected in the facilities. Regularly toilet cubicle’s have out of order signs, pieces missing from sink panelling exposing pipework, the taps have never worked correctly since opening. The centre has been open for less than 5 years it should be maintained to a high standard but already looks tired. The photos attached are not a one off, this is a regular occurrence of how the changing facilities/toilets look. They have removed the studio used for classes, so now the classes are in the sports hall at the same time as bandminton, with just a curtain between - while this is not too bad in the class, I can only imagine how distracting it is to play badminton with drum and bass blaring out from behind a curtain. Class times also keep changing and being made earlier which is harder and harder for people who work full time to access. I have been a member since the centre opened, and the services and facilities just keep getting worse while the price gets higher. This is now one of the most expensive big name gyms in the area.

Talking from a point of someone who only uses the gym. For £34.99 now going up to £36.99 I would say its now costing too much. There has been an extention which has helped but the availability of equipment at peak time is quite poor. The gym layout is a bit of a minefield to get from one side to the other You either have to navigate other users or navigate going around equipment as there is no clear walkway. The gym staff dont seem to care about meat heads dropping 150kg on the cable machines and nobody seems to put their plates back but will happily approach women about using a gym bag. They have an In Body scanner machine which is great but everytime I go to use it either the gym staff are impossible to find even by radio from reception or there isn't someone working who knows the code so if you're trying to stay consistent like me fasts for almoat 20hrs and wants to weigh in early morning its really hit and miss if someone will be present. If you use all of the gym families its a good price. I just want to go and lift weights and do some cardio and January 2026 price is now not really worth it

Gyms nice, nothing you won’t expect across a gym, lots of young people which is actually nice to see, basics like keeping the water fountain functional should be considered quite important and probably needs more than only 1 in the gym. Want anything sorting, talk to Lammas or Hucknall staff RE: memberships. Young team understandably. Pool and groups seems the core facilities business. Soft play has been closed for a long time and when it was open was quite dirty. Better than Anytime Fitness > not quite a Bannatyne/Virgin/David Lloyd or independent

My experience with Kirkby Leisure Centre was an absolute disgrace from start to finish. I booked a soft play party for my daughter, and this place had the audacity to keep taking bookings despite already knowing the area would be closed. Not one person bothered to tell us. No email, no call, nothing. I only found out because I happened to see a Facebook post nine days before the party. If I hadn’t seen that, we would have shown up with a group of excited kids to find nothing. Completely shocking and unacceptable. Because of their incompetence, I had to scramble last-minute to find another venue after already spending money on food, party bags, cake — the works. The total disregard for customers and their time, effort, and money is unbelievable. Communication was beyond terrible. Calls ignored, promised call-backs that never happened, and every bit of information had to be dragged out of them. It felt like they were hoping we’d just give up and go away. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. The final insult? When I went in for a refund after being ignored for days, the receptionist/sales manager told me it could “only be done by head office” and couldn’t be processed onsite. Thirty seconds later, another staff member came out and refunded me on the spot. The sheer incompetence and inconsistency is honestly shocking. No organisation, no communication, and clearly no idea what they’re doing. This whole experience has been stressful, infuriating, and handled with a level of disorganisation I wouldn’t expect anywhere — let alone somewhere offering children’s services. In my opinion, this is a prime example of how NOT to run a facility. Do not trust them with your bookings, your money, or your children’s events.

My experience with Kirkby Leisure Centre has been extremely disappointing. I booked a soft play party for my daughter, unaware that the area was due to be closed for refurbishment. The centre continued taking bookings during this time, and at no point did anyone contact me to say the party would no longer be possible. I only found out when I happened to see a post on Facebook with just 9 days to go before the party. Because of this, I was left trying to make last-minute alternative arrangements after already buying food, a cake, and party bags. It’s frustrating to think that we could have arrived with a group of excited children to discover there was no soft play available, simply because no one informed us. Communication throughout the whole situation was poor in my experience. Calls went unanswered, I was told I’d receive call backs that didn’t happen, and I felt like I had to chase for every bit of information. When I went in to get a refund after hearing nothing since the previous Friday, I was told by the receptionist/sales manager that it could only be processed by head office and there was no way to do it on site. Moments later, another staff member appeared and processed the refund instantly without any issue. That really summed up the lack of organisation and inconsistency. Overall, the whole experience has been completely disappointing and stressful. In my opinion, this could have been handled far more professionally, with better communication and transparency for customers who have booked and paid for a service.

Really enjoyed being here today. Obviously the development work outside the entrance will be better once completed, but on the whole a wonderful Leisure Centre.

A great new leisure centre for the area, the facilities are all new, modern and sparkling. The wet change area is bright and airy, a mixture of different size changing cubicles ideal if you are taking small children. The pool is a good size, warm with pleasant surroundings. There's a lovely cafe area with a selection of well priced drinks, snacks and light meals. There is free parking opposite the site and the new car park should be finished soon.

Love how clean it is and that the pool is a good depth so my children have comfortably been able to swim. We enjoy coming here every week, however the last two times we have been, the water has been so cold! It takes a while to adjust to the temperature and we’ve had to cut the swims short due to my little ones being covered in goosebumps and shaking. The temperature definitely needs to be reassessed! We likely won’t return until this is improved as it’s just too cold, especially with the outside temperature being chilly this time of year. Also, the fam feature sessions should be more stricter and lessen the amount of individual adults swimming without children, who seem to huff and puff when you’re in the way of them swimming - despite it clearly being a children's/family session. One other negative is that the changing rooms are shared male/female and you see a lot of people using their phones when in the changing room, which is quite uncomfortable when you’re walking around in your swimming costumes, showering and dressing your children in the same area.
