As have other reviewers, I too, unfortunately, received a parking fine whilst using the pool with my baby. The parking firm are extremely threatening and have rejected my appeal even though I have provided proof that I was using the facility. They say I have to prove I entered my reg. details on the screen, which I did, but I obviously cannot prove this. I will not be using the leisure centre again, as I can’t risk more arbitrary fines.

I attended the gym frequently until recently and I really enjoyed it. Family members go regularly and I’m starting my membership again. They have all different classes for different fitness levels. Swimming included and other activities just ask when signing up as the staff have always been pretty friendly and helpful. If you have any disabilities or struggle with physical fitness/injuries the staff have certain programs to accommodate this and are really attentive to your individual needs. Have always been very helpful with myself.

Took my 6 month old swimming, ended up with a parking fine. Not what you want or expect when you're just trying to use your local leisure centre. Now I have the fun job of of dealing with this private parking firm. Called up the centre they said they can't cancel it over the phone and need to contact parking eye :( bad customer service and I don't know how I'm going to prove I was a paying customer. All this isn't really what I expected from going for a little swim with my baby :(

Disgusting, unhygienic changing rooms. Always smell very strong of urine. Yesterday it was so strong it made us feel ill. I mentioned it but my comments were deleted. They need to be cleaned every day and signs should be up to encourage people not to let kids urinate in there. Please sort it out as we will have to take our membership elsewhere.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely big and clean changing area and nice warm water in the little pool.

Took my 4 year old to a birthday party there. Bouncy castles on the basketball ball court and Party Tables in the adjoining room, cup of coffee whilst watching my lad try to injury himself for an hour, then they all stuffed their faces Not sure about the sports facilities... not been swimming in years, you can see the learner pool through large windows and it looks good, planning on taking my lad there when i can talk him into it (it's scary apparently) covid stopped the early swimming lesson plans.

Gyms okay, small but busy. Unfortunately, despite being a member of the gym and entering my registration number into the system, I have received two parking fines from parking eye. I have proved my membership and asked the gym to provide proof that I scanned in and was using the gym the exact time I was parked in the car park but I was still charged. This is just frustrating for me as I am tied into a year contract at the gym yet it’s costing me £60 to park in the car park.

  2. Gruff PBG ★★★☆☆

Clean and welcoming but the gym facilities are stupidly overpriced when you consider it's by far the smallest gym in town yet charges much more than anywhere else. The flexibility of using Heanor/Alf is nice but doesn't outweigh the daft pricing.

A solid gym for being outside of a large city. A number of a membership options with an option to pay £7 for a single drop in session though you need cash for the parking lot which is £0.50 per hour.
