I don’t typically write bad reviews but wow this is a bit upsetting - Pelicano, you’re really doing your sister restaurant a disservice here. Let’s start with the food (pics included) - so incredibly basic, to the point I was like damn we paid £30 for this when I could have made it at home. This felt like Sainsbury’s already breaded chicken with some basic hovis white bread. I’ve eaten proper Sandos, and this ain’t it. Even my kids wouldn’t eat this - it was a soggy mush with kids level crisps? This isn’t quality Korean cuisine, don’t position it as so. Atmosphere/ Management - During the day it’s so dark, empty, lifeless. The staff are a bit strange and openly talk about their struggles as a business. When staff are open like that, it creates a really weird vibe. Moreover, I don’t understand the logic behind closing at 1pm. A woman walked in at 1 to then be turned away, she looked super confused - I completely get it. I’ve lived in the area for years, surely closing at that time and avoiding the lunch rush isn’t sustainable. Guys I’m sorry but this would need a full blown, 360 revamp. Disappointing.

Lovely plant based Japanese food. The kaarage aubergine we had was delicious. Loved the kimchi rice too. And the sushi pieces were delicious. Wish they had more fun desserts though, we had the brownie which was ok but a bit boring compared to the rest of the money (every restaurant in England serves brownie as dessert). Staff was super nice and it wasn’t too busy when we went which was nice.

Kusaki is such a lovely place. The food is always original, beautifully presented and so tasty. We tried a black sesame ice cream that day that was out of this world. Atmosphere is relaxing and soothing and the service is one of the best in town. Special thanks to Alex, who waited on us that day as they were absolutely wonderful!

We came for a friend's birthday and had the most incredible time. The food is so beautifully presented and we loved the attention to detail, as well as the care from the staff, who let us try the orange wine, helped with our menu choices and put a birthday candle in our friend's pudding! Our highlights included the oyster mushroom karaage (even loved by our friend who normally doesn't eat mushrooms!), the fried nigiri, and the drunken rice which was so good I wanted to get some to take away. We also loved the ambiance, the comfortable chairs and the size of the table. It was such a lovely experience!

Glorious plant based Japanese menu. Had a super tasty bento box with a great mix of flavours. Really great house wine and amazing service. Well worth checking out.

An excellent Japanese and vegan restaurant - a rare combination even in Japan. I loved the spacious interior, the reasonable price of the creativity of the dishes. Everything was delicious, we would come again.

What a surprise! I had saved this in my want to go list a some time ago. And being back in Brighton today I decided to check it out. It's vegan. But done so well. Delicate dashi broth. Excellent curries. Amazing cocktails. Excellent decor. Good wine. And such a fair price compared to London. Yum. Thanks for the food, I'll be back.

The Service was impeccable, very warm welcoming and friendly. But most importantly the food was great, loved every bite of it. From starter to drinks and dessert. The location and the ambiente is great as well, good taste in interior design.

Really liked this place. Came here on a Wednesday evening with booking a table beforehand. I would suggest you'd do the same as it was full for a Wednesday (always a good sign). We ordered drinks, two small plates and two large plates and it came out of the kitchen really quickly (we were eating main meal in the next 20-25 minutes). After that we decided to have a dessert and with that it took one whole hour to order, get the desserts, finish and pay. So the service was a bit slow in the end but nothing to complain about as they were really nice and friendly. I loved the food, fairly priced and loved the fresh ingredients. One thing that bothered me was the lamb's lettuce on everything. Could be at least flavored, or maybe not there at all? I loved the atmosphere of the place, pretty decor, nice music...somebody really thought this through. Overall a great experience and would definitely visit again.

A great restaurant with wonderful interior. Lots of space. The food tasted nice and it was well presented. Though it lacked certain wow factor. All was 100% vegan. The music had nothing to do with Japan, some generic American pop/rock.
