A beautiful 1513 dated pub. Lovely friendly atmosphere and staff. Good selection of food, fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Local pub with food. Decent range of beers including local cask options - Harvey's of Lewes is a stalwart here. We had a large family meal and it was very good. We'd all ordered in advance but the choices were good. They were able to deal with vegetarian and vegan options. Service was friendly and efficient. Pub seems empty of customers quite early - once we'd finished the meal (after 10pm) the rest of the pub was empty, which seemed strange given it was very busy earlier on.

The service and staff friendliness here is great, we felt really welcomed and well looked after. The food we found lacking (mainly roasts), the road potatoes did not taste as though they were fresh which let down the main meal. The desserts on the other hand were absolutely gorgeous (home made brownie and homemade applie pie) so I would highly recommend trying them.

Went for the Christmas party night, beautiful decorations, very festive!! Good choice of food, decent portion size, good service, reasonably priced drinks, fab entertainment. My only slight complaint was the entertainment was very, very loud, Will take ear plugs next time! Staff were lovely, friendly & attentive. We would go again. I'd like to go back for a Sunday roast and other things on the menu looked interesting as well! 5*****

Nice meal in the Black Horse with my family. Food is really delicious and the staff are lovely and attentive. The inside is decorated really nicely and very well lit and nice feeling. Only missed out on 5* because I felt it was quite expensive for a relatively small portion but I'd absolutely go again!

Remembrance Sunday visit We visited for the second sitting for this fantastic event. Firstly the pub looked stunning - no expense spared whilst remembering our heroes. The food was outstanding, hats off to the chef it was probably the best roast I had eaten in a long time. The beef melted in your mouth and the vegetables were varied and perfectly cooked. All food was served hot and together ( we were a group of 8) which given the amount of people eating was a fantastic achievement. The entertainment was superb and a very fitting tribute. Lastly credit to the guys that run this place - to put on the type of events they do whilst continuing to maintain brilliant food and service levels is testament to how much thought, effort and hard work they must have to put in.

Me and my fella had our wedding reception here. Dec and John could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The decorations were astonishing! Dec also prepared a buffet fit for the queens we are, all our guests were very well fed. Was truly a wonderful night.

Really enjoyed our meal. I decided to have a starter with two sides for dinner, a bit random but I'm glad I did as it was tasty! Service was a bit slow and no one asked if we wanted more drinks or desert so a missed opportunity, but it was busy. The quiz was fantastic, really well run. We had a lovely evening, we will be back!
