One of my favourite restaurants in Brighton, it's a must visit. Every dish is carefully created and sauces expertly spiced to provide a delightful dining experience. If you're not sure what to try, I recommend the tasting menu or go for a mixture of the small plates. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic meal for OctoberBEST at Kitgum! It’s a really cosy, intimate venue that had fantastic music throughout our visit! Fayaz is fantastic and makes you feel welcome immediately. Food was insanely good- special shout to the lamb and the scallops. The flavours were bold, robust and daring and I’m already trying to think when I can next go back!!!!

How lovely to finally dine at Kitgum, after having tried their food at a local music festival last summer. It feels like the best bits of a local London neighbourhood restaurant - intimate, inviting, buzzing atmosphere, great cocktails. We got started with the cod roe puri (delicious) and a coconut rum cocktail (also wonderful). Food came out quickly so you’re never left yearning for more - very important in a small plates setting - although the portions are good. The daal was some of the best we’ve ever had - super flavoursome and well spiced. Tomatoes with coriander was sublime, beef shin curry silky and rich, and the fried chicken with spiced tomato yogurt…incredible. Wine was lovely too (I had a glass of the Gamay - perfectly matched with the food flavours), and then dessert was a delicious saffron kulfi. Service was friendly, unfussy, and welcoming. It was a shame they had ran out of their single malt whisky that was advertised with dessert - as that would have really been the icing on the cake, but all in all it was a really super meal and experience - and another in the (sadly) small handful of really elevated Brighton food spots.

What a place this is…proper little gem of Brighton. Fayaz the owner is a too bloke and very accommodating. Came here before a show at the Joker with friends and we all experienced the full menu and there was nothing we disliked. Massive thanks to the chefs for cooking for us and looking after us all night. 5 stars without a question and can’t wait to see you again in your new premises

Visited in May 2022. Came with some friends and that's probably the best idea as you can try most of the dishes on the menu. Everything was tasty and we ended up quite full. Portions could be a bit bigger but they are definitely not small. Can't remember how much we paid but it felt a good value for money. I wouldn't go again before trying another place but I would definitely recommend people to go and try it. You might need an adventurous pallet for some of the dishes as it is not strictly speaking a traditional cuisine.

The food was very good, meals offered are definitely original. Booking is highly recommended as the restaurant has only a few seatings. Also and an important point which is not on the google booking site, tables are only bootable for an hour and a half so you need to take it into account when ordering as we did not get the chance to try their desserts.

Food is fantastic and fresh. The wine is lovely to. Choices on the menu are tight, but I see that as a good sign. Staff was friendly and helpful in choosing the dishes.

Had an amazing birthday lunch here today. Lovely staff, amazing food, and a great story behind the restaurant! Will definitely be returning, if northing else, to try the rest of the options on the menu!
