Ordered here for many years but lately the portions have gotten much smaller, prices much higher, delivery is 90+ minutes and food arrives cold. £35 wasted on my last two orders. And every time they offer free delivery, the service charge goes up instead.
Ordered quite a large order last night, total came to £72.73. Quite honestly, we are disappointed. Scrolling through the menu online, there is no details as to what the burgers are and what they include, so we were quite shocked when we discovered the “messy burger” doesn’t include a bun! This is definitely confusing, especially for new customers. (Just Eat App) Receiving our food, our drinks were missing. The driver tried to give us what seemed to be someone else’s order. We ordered the blue Razz drink and The mango, he tried to give us someone’s “Minty Fresh” drink. When I told him that isn’t ours, he said he would come back with our drinks. Although I appreciate the drive to and from Alsager and back, there wasn’t any sort of apology and more so a bad attitude. The food quite honestly wasn’t nice at all and majority of it was wasted and not eaten. My burger meal included the “Peri Peri Chicken Burger” with a side of chips and donner meat. The chips were uncooked and not edible, parts of the donner meat were not cut correctly and was the size of a Toblerone bar, making the texture and bite of the donner an unpleasant experience. The chicken on the burger was cooked, unfortunately though was cold. Seemed the driver had a few orders in Congleton to deliver and our food was getting colder and colder in the car. Personally, shouldn’t deliver outside of Alsager if you don’t have many drivers to make these sorts of deliveries outside of town, best way to avoid complaints and reviews like these. The “Messy Burger” again, no bun, wasn’t made aware of this on the Just Eat app, but I note it is stated on the actual Papa’s Website. However, the lettuce/salad that came with the burger was disgusting. When I say disgusting it was off. The lettuce was brown and slimy, so the burger wasn’t eaten. The wings that were included with that meal were okay, but were definitely bland. The chips again were uncooked. The desserts. Wow. Very bland, very expensive too for such little portions. We had a mixed variety of desserts to try, the churros were rock hard, one bite and the rest was left (apart from the strawberries and chocolate which you can’t go wrong with). The Biscoff waffles lacked any sort of sauce, pretty much was given bland waffles with a few biscuits on top. The only thing that was good about the desserts was the Mr. Whippy ice creams and the Nutella Pizza. We waited 1 Hour and 30 Minutes for this order, we went past hunger, especially giving what we received. The gentleman on the phone was polite, can’t fault him in any way. After a poor experience and a lot of money wasted, we don’t recommend Papa’s, especially if you live outside of the Alsager Area. I don’t know how popular the food is with the local’s in Alsager, maybe they would have a different opinion. But for us, we wouldn’t order again.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Papas for well over a decade, and I’ve always loved their food, so it really pains me to say this. I ordered the meat combo for two for me and my son, but the portion we received was extremely disappointing. There were barely any fries, hardly any donner meat, and the flatbread was hard. The staff, as always, were friendly, and when I mentioned the lack of fries they did give me more. I didn’t ask about the donner meat because it already felt awkward bringing up the fries — but for a meal advertised as being for two people, it really shouldn’t have been necessary to ask at all. This is now the third time in a row where the portion sizes have been noticeably smaller. My son and wife couldn’t believe the food box we received was £20 and supposedly meant for two. I say this with genuine regret, but I walked away feeling quite ripped off — as politely as I can put it. Papas used to be fantastic, and I really hope they return to the quality and generosity that made me a loyal customer for so many years.
Decided to come back and do an updated review. They've really improved on the occasional slip ups here, we've always loved papas but there were times we weren't impressed but when it's good it's really good! I honestly think they're that busy that sometimes that they get overwhelmed, that's my opinion anyway. Anyway we've ordered many times recently and it's been so nice! Generous portions, really tasty milkshakes and louisianna chicken! Presentation has improved too. Our fave go to again
My overall experience was Very disappointing,I have been a loyal customer for many years and always rated papas the best!! But sadly this no longer is the case!!!! The prices have greatly increased yet the portions are alot smaller,the salad is basically onion,the sauce toppings are either missed off or wrong,my chicken tenders were chicken bits,onion rings were soft and tasteless,flatbread hard and unedable,the free can of pop is now watered down juice,you have to pay£1.50 for delivery and it arrives stone cold,I could go on and on about my herendous experience but I will leave my review with ....GOODBYE PAPAS NEVER AGAIN
This is our go-to takeaway in Alsager and the general Cheshire-East/North Staffordshire area. Helpful and friendly staff. Lots of fresh salad. This time I had the most amazing halloumi burger which was DELICIOUS. Boyfriend had beef burger which was also lovely.
I still stand by Papa's having the best pizza, and the food is lovely. I am disappointed with this order this time, unfortunately we didnt recieve 2 items of the order, I called the restaurant to let them know what was missing they said it would send it right out, seems what I said was lost in translation as 45 mins later I had to call to say again that it hadn't arrived and clarify again what it was missing, they didnt listen the first time called they driver thinking I said the whole order which the driver said he'd delivered, which in part was true, a courtesy call would of been nice. So after this i had recieved only 1 of the missing items! Even though I was very clear what was missing for the second time. Please improve on the customer service, listening is part of this for next time thanks
First time ordering. Lovely food. From packaging to the food, it's good quality. Will definitely be back.
Ordered over 2 and a half hours ago and still not received order after ringing up 45 minutes ago to be told it was in the oven. Not able to get hold of them since by phone, constantly engaged. Some advice, If you put an offer on, make sure you can keep up with the demand. No apology whatsoever. We won’t be ordering again.
They get chicken right where so many others in the area fail. I live in Crewe and used just eat. The delivery was really fast and the food was warm when it arrived. I ordered the Louisiana burger with a side of chicken strips. The chicken was really tender and moist which is a refreshing change from the dry tasteless chicken most places serve up. The coating was full of flavour and the cheese sauce was really nice and seemed like it has a bit of a kick to it. The only disappointment was the burger bun. It is stated.on the website that it was supposed to be blue. I haven't removed any score as the food received was delicious. Fries were nice as well, it would be a little better if they dunked the fries a second time to maybe make them extra crispy but this is minor. I ordered from them so much that this order used the just eat stamp card, but its well worth taking part in. I would wholeheartedly say I prefer this place over KFC and their menu has some good variety.
