   We live near Cambridge and needed somewhere dog freindly for a birthday lunch with our daughter who's studying in the stafford area. After a long drive in wind and heavy rain we couldn't have asked for a better welcome. Freindly helpful staff, great menu and good choice of drinks. (The fish soup was tasty and really filling). The log fire was really appreciated too, thank you all.

   The garden is a fantastic sun trap! Very nice and great area for food and drinks!! The inside is beautiful with a stunning stone floor! A great pub! (Haven't stayed there so I don't know about the rooms! )

   1/7/2025 We went to The Queen's head for lunch with our Springer spaniel Riley, dogs are allowed in the bar but, as it was such a lovely day, we decided to dine in the beer garden which was surprisingly quiet. The menu was fairly varied with something for all tastes. We both chose the daily special which was an 8 ounce rump steak with chips and from the sauces (which included blue cheese, chilli prawns etc) we opted for the peppercorn which was one of the best I have tasted in some time. The service was speedy and friendly, the steak was pink and tender, the sauce delicious and we had a very pleasant lunch which was excellent value. Thank you.

   Best Sunday dinner we have had in a long time! Me and my partner go to lots of places for Sunday dinner and The Queen’s Head tops the lot! Large sizes and the cheesy leeks/ cauliflower cheese was incredible. Staff were really attentive and looked after us throughout our stay. We shall be back and will recommend to friends and family.

   Lovely pub. Great food, which was really well presented. Good beer and wine. Christmas lights were up when we visited which, together with the log burner, made for a great cosy feeling. Staff were also excellent.

   Stopped here for lunch after visiting Biddulph Country Park. Dog friendly, cosy back conservatory with large wood-burner. Very tasty and reasonably priced food, had the garlic mushrooms to start and beef and onion baguette for main.

   Lovely service and atmosphere - creamy mushrooms and the black pudding starters were gorgeous. Kids mac n cheese was really bland and watery, my daughter didn't eat any of it (it was visible it was a full portion still and we did mention that it wasn't good) and no one offered to take off the bill which was a little disappointing (the staff were very lovely though) and our mains were delicious! The steak pie is the best we have had in years! Chips very rustic, home made but be aware HUGE haha. Main veg was supposed to be mushy peas, we got some other veg which was disappointing as we weren't made aware before hand that there would be a substitute.. So overall, we will most definitely visit again; it was not quite perfect but in fairness definitely VERY good.
