The best place BY FAR for drinks and snacks at the station. Great selection of cakes, sandwiches, drinks (including alcohol) Eat/drink in the place, or tske aeay. Real tea.

This little gem on platform 2 of Lewes station is the best station café I've ever been to. I bought a latte at the Runaway this morning as I had half an hour to kill before boarding the 9:55 London Victoria train. Straight away, their young barista asked me if I'd had a busy morning whilst making the coffee. And from there we ended up chatting for only a minute or two (people were coming in). I'd brought my own bagel and snacks for the journey home so I didn't order any food. But one of their regulars, Bill who was sat at the next table to me, had ordered a savoury pastry which they'd warmed up for him. It looked appetising. A plethora of cakes, sandwiches and other goodies were on display. Everything looked yummy and freshly made. Thank you for taking the time to make the start of my journey a wonderful one. À bientôt peut être at the station or at tynonthellyn camping in North Wales.

Got a coffee this morning before my train, the barista told me he made the best flat whites - he does! Delicious coffee, friendly service, put me in a good mood for the rest of my day :)

Best station café in the country. Properly brewed teas, excellent sandwich / food selection and even a bar once the sun is over the yard arm. Brilliant - long may it continue.

Stopped for lunch whilst travelling. I had a smoked trout salad the rest had paninis with salad, all were delicious. There are photographs hung on the wall, the atmosphere is reminiscent of the film ‘Brief Encounter’. We will be back.

Came in for a break between our journey and was treated less than by a young blonde lady. I understand when someone is having a bad day, but the poor treatment for whatever reason that may have been was uncalled for and I could not stomach the food that was made after such treatment.. Most people can take this with a grain of salt as many do not look like me - a person of colour, originally from Hawaii in the Pacific, and East Asian descent. So you will likely (and thankfully) receive better service.

Excellent selection of cakes. Licenced premises, good for a swift half or two after coming off the train from work. Great selection of teas and coffees too, to suit all palates. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic cafe serving yummy homemade food and snacks. Awesome breakfasts to set our day up for our football days home and away! Staff are friendly, efficient and well-mannered making sure our food and drinks are served in preparation for every train journey we take and at respectable prices. So nice to have independent food and drinks outlet at our disposal, as opposed to chains. The Runaway Café every time for us - faultless.
