Boxes under arms, a determined young sales assistant was helping my 9 year old daughter purchase school shoes and trainers. In-between size 13 and 1 apparently she had a wide fitting, and this was not going to be an easy task. Undettered the sales assistant, focused on her mission, and at last she clinched the sale fitting a perfect pair of shoes on, (with the upsell of insoles) however it did improve the fit. Price wise, a bargain for the trainers, the school shoes sadly not so much however for happy customers, it was worth it and the sales assistant did a great job... So of this was you or management reading this... good job. Sat 18th October around midday .. Wondering however... why you no longer accept Blue Light Card as you once did? As a health care worker on min wage that purchase cost nearly 4 hours work ... (Not complaining, simply asking)

We took our granddaughter to get 2 pairs of boots and when we arrived the young man Joe was busy and was so polite to everyone plus trying to size toddlers feet which they were refusing and crying including our granddaughter, he was so patient, kind and understanding to the adults which was really nice his politeness was above and beyond. I went downstairs and told the other assistants who were also busy , to let them know what wonderful service we had by the young man given everyone. We recently relocated to the UK and were first timers shopping for school supplies for our kid starting school here. Honestly, we were a bit nervous about finding the right shoes and trying to get our heads around all the guidelines required for school uniforms ( we came from a US school system). But we made the right choice coming here and getting it all sorted—so glad we chose Clarks! Fleur, the sales assistant, was an absolute star. She was so friendly, incredibly patient (even with our endless questions!), and clearly knew her stuff when it came to fitting school shoes. She made the whole experience genuinely enjoyable for us. It made a world of difference to have someone so kind and knowledgeable helping us out—Fleur is a real asset to the team there. Friendly and helpful staff, but a poor range when it comes to more traditional formal shoes. I visited the store looking for a pair of black toecap Oxford shoes. I asked the member of staff who greeted me if they would be able to check my shoe size, which they were all too happy to do (especially useful as it transpired that I've been buying the wrong size shoes for the last however-many years...). They then talked me through the options in an extremely helpful and knowledgeable manner. Sadly my first choice wasn't available in the width that I required, and the second choice offered to me wasn't quite the right style. Either way, the service was of a high standard, and it was a shame that Clarks no longer produces the wide range of more traditional styles that one would expect from a shoemaker of their standing and heritage.

Why aren't all retail shops like this? My partner and I visited this shop this morning, and were greeted by the manager, very welcomingly, he then had the politeness to hand us over to our sales assistant Grace, who by my estimation is a fine exponent of the whole customer satisfaction experience bar none. What was made it so incredibly special was her attention to detail, using her palmtop to check stock, she managed to find three pairs of suitable shoes for me. I was made to feel so welcome, by all associated at this shop, and I will return in the future forthwith that is a guarantee.
