So glad I found this place! True, super cool hidden gem for a Sunday roast, one of the best I’ve had in East Sussex. I had the beef roast and expected it to be a bit dry if I’m honest as we were booked for mid afternoon. The meat was perfect. Still pink and melted in my mouth, so reasonably priced too. I got a brilliant bright welcome and the staff were cheery, knowledgeable and really accommodating. Honestly, it’s my new go to for food, and dog friendly too!

We were welcomed by the staff warmly, shown to a table and our drinks arrived promptly. The food was very good and very well presented. Two had the steak pie, delicious, two friends had the Bok Burger which looked fab and tasted great too! Our other friend had Thyme chicken breast, tender and tasty. We will definitely be back for more! Thank you all at The Barley Mow

Amazing hidden gem! Loved this place. I’ve driven past it SO many times but if I’m honest had been put off by the dark frontage and the fact it’s on a busy road - but we went in after a long and exhausting week and it was an utter joy and delight! Great funky background music, really cosy, such lovely chatty (but not too much!) staff, owner also super lovely (and tres groovy dungarees!) and our dog was spoilt with treats and strokes. Such a great and refreshing atmosphere for a Sunday lunch pub and we’d definitely go back. And food was amaaaaazing! Partner had triple roast and I had butternut squash and we both had white choc crème brûlée for dessert. Loved the cosy with rugs and heaters outdoor area also. Honestly loved this place - totally our bag only wish we’d gone in three years sooner when we first moved close by. Everything about this experience was excellent. Highly recommend! LOVED it ❤️

We came here as a large group (23) to celebrate my Nan's 94th birthday, and could not have had a better time! Mathew was so attentive and made the experience perfect. The food was delicious (especially the vegan fish and chips, pictured!) the views are incredible, the play area is fantastic and the vibe was so upbeat - and to top it off it's dog friendly! We will be back again soon!!

Great, picturesque country pub, with excellent service and tasty dishes. We stopped here after a trip to Drusilla’s for some lunch, and were warmly greeted by a charming young man, who saw us to our table and looked after us for our stay. The food was great, and the restaurant was very accommodating with our two kids. Would definitely recommend, if you’re passing or nearby!

Best pub I've been to this year! Me and my partner came in with 2 young puppies. The staff were so welcoming giving them bowl of water and some treats. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, good portion sizes and good choice of beers, a really nice atmosphere, we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Went for lunch with a friend and had a wonderful time. Great setting, service and food. Carly was so friendly and accommodating, and our food, curried soup and risotto was of fine dining quality. I have high standards and I just can’t find fault. We were very impressed with the whole set up and left extremely happy and satisfied. I look forward to going back very soon!

Nice pub. Pleasant staff. Food unfortunately was not good at all. Risotto was very stodgy. Fish was so over cooked on the fish and chips ham was fatty. Waited ages to have plates cleared. So gave up and asked for bill. Went elsewhere for coffee and cake.

Very quiet when we visited on a hot sunny day at lunchtime. Service and food was good and staff were friendly. Kids enjoyed playing in the playground
