Never anyone in this shop. You have to pay to park here but your ticket is refunded if you buy something. I think it puts people off faffing about with it.
I did write a quite poor review about a member of staff a few weeks ago ( i unfortunately did not get her name just her attitude )!! SO I now have to write a new one for the complete opposite reason. I was fortunate enough to get a very pleasant young lady Janharna ( I think ) directing customers to self checkout or for any returns etc to go to a member of staff on the tills. I had several requests which were all handled easily & with good knowledge from Janharna. Firstly I had items to return, I had new items to purchase & also asked if they did a short leg in some trousers I had taken to the checkout with me. I was kindly instructed to return & purchase my items at a manned checkout & then Janharna said she would help me to look on line through the app to check if the trousers were available in a short leg. Whilst I was at the tills several other customers were directed by Janharna. Very efficient knowledgeable friendly & able member of staff you have there, you need to make sure you keep her!! Satisfied customer.
It's good the shop is still here. It had changed over the years as far as the check out is concerned, but not the shop. It had some food items in there which is always good
Been in a handful of times over the past few months. Spent money each time we've went in and encountered rude staff and a rude security guard each time. If encouraging people to use the self service then ensure you have someone around or paying attention to help out. I got spoken to rudely regarding where I placed my items when using the self service, I dont shop here often so not aware of placements when trying to work out how to use the machine. The way the women spoke to me behind the till was not acceptable. The security guard muttered something under his breath after looking at my husband up and down and his broken leg as we entered the shop. Then on a previous occasion muttered to another staff member behind my back who ushered me to the self service that I used the self service and my son went to a till instead of self service as well, he was paying with cash and also wanted to do it with a person instead of a machine. Puts us off from shopping in here unfortunately.
I’m not someone who likes to write bad reviews but this one had to be done and not worth even 1 star. I came to return an online item to this branch yesterday and the store manager (Sinead) wrongly accused me of wearing the item washing it and trying to return it. The smell of the washing powder was from the clothes I was actually wearing but decided to accuse me and make me feel low and cheap in front of other staff members and customers. I can understand customers come inside the shop and lie for a refund but what upset me I was genuinely telling the truth.i could have easily lied and got a refund. The only time I had tried the item was in the Matalan fitting rooms and was big so I decided to purchase a smaller size, I returned the same item on Saturday 2 sizes bigger and had no issues, if I really wanted to wear and return a used item I would have been asking for a straight refund and not buying smaller sizes. This women literally accused me of removing the care label and sticking it back on the bottoms. This is the worst customer service I have experienced and the management really needs taking care of at this place. Service like this makes you think how much the branch is actually struggling. This was my first time shopping with matalan and definitely my last as she definitely has put me off shopping in other branches aswell. It’s not even about the money, I will happily put the items in a clothes bank. I have taken this up with HO and I wouldn’t recommend this branch to anyone
Matalan always surprises me, each shop in different towns do not always sell the same goods. You cannot just use one shop. You have to visit several. WHY?
I picked up clothes from the sale aisles, they were not single pieces on there, there was numerous of the same items all reduced and prices written by hand on them, got to the tills they scanned as full price, i called for help and was told very rudely ‘it doesnt matter whats written on them it’s what they scan as that matters’… i would expect for staff member to go and atleast check especially because i said to them that all the rest of the same items on the rack have all been written different prices, she just said yeah it doesn’t matter whats written, i am a regular shopper at matalan and this is not the first time that the self service members of staff standing there have been rude. So i didn’t purchase any of my items including the non sale ones i had.
Purchased a track suit for my husband. Good fit, great price, helpful staff, although we hate the self-service tills.
Love the clothes. Very reasonable prices and sales are brilliant
Disappointing shopping experience. The store is in real need of update and hasn't got the most inspiring selection of clothes. I feel Matalan is just drifting along not really knowing who it wants cater for. Unfortunately Primark has entered the same market place and are fairing a lot better
