Wonderful little cinema, very cosy bar area and nice seats in the screen rooms.

Lovely place and the fact that the films you can see here are so many I got curious to watch more in the future!

Dukes is, I believe the oldest functioning Cinema in Britain. This is a huge achievement. However, I’m aged 76 and have quite often turned up for movies where my peers are also customers. Latest one - The Choral on 11th November 2025. My biggest criticism is the seating space in the cafe upstairs. Most of the seats are around high tables - which may be ‘cool’ for the younger generation but thoroughly unkind and thoughtless for us oldies. I watched others - like myself - try to clamber up, holding on to an insecure table. Really, Dukes, spare us a thought!? The best arrangement I’d suggest is possibly the reception area at Yeomans Toyota in Peacehaven.

The film was fine and the bar looked good but the room was full and got really hot and stuffy quickly, so much so that I considered walking out because at some points I nearly had a panic attack from the lack of fresh air and the humid heat.

The cinema is lovely and the seats comfortable, but we had an issue where the film we were watching was quite quiet (on purpose) but we could hear the film playing in the next screen which was a bit distracting.

Nice place, nice staff, try to book tickets online but they had server issues (fair enough, these things happen). One thing that I thought was annoying - I was watching Tar in screen 2 and we could hear music coming through the walls either from screen 1 or below? This seemed like a massive oversight to me, least I expect is to have an undisturbed cinema experience.

The sofa seats are so comfortable, the staff are super friendly, and being able to get pizzas and beers to take in makes it so much better than a normal cinema!

D at K is my favourite cinema in town by far. It's just..well, .. lush! Always feels elegant but alive , and I guess a little bit more thrilling, compared with anywhere else, which is nice when going to the movies.

Surprisingly not reviewing the cinema but the business acumen of having a ground floor coffee shop with tables an chairs outside. I only stopped to shelter from the rain but the oat milk latte was the best in Brighton. Plus the server was so friendly.
