Lovely cinema, great coffee and brilliant staff… We organised the screening of our award-winning musical short film ‘Strolling Down Brighton Pier’ with the team at the Duke of York’s and everyone there went ‘above and beyond’ helping us to make our event a success. Special mentions to Emily and Charlie for their help on the day as well as Issey and Alex for sorting out the last minute test. A big THANK YOU to all the team!
Wow! I am absolutely blown away. This is miles better than the Odeons and Cineworlds of this era. Despite being bought out by Cineworlds pet project, the cinema still feels very independent and it's so clean compared to the larger chains. The great part about this place is it hosts more rogue and independent cinema. I got to enjoy Sirat as part of a local film festival last night, which blew me away. The food and drink are also reasonably priced with a bundle deal inclusive of drink and popcorn. One thing people might have been wondering (which I was wondering from looking at the photos) is the size of the popcorn. No it's not those silly little beer popcorn bags, but in fact a proper box. You just have to go to the bar upstairs. I dare say this was probably a positive influence from daddy Picture House. Bravo, good points all round.
I really enjoyed my experience there! I love the historic building. The people who work three are friendly and polite. The seats are comfy. I've been meaning to visit for long time, and finally I did. And I'll certainly come back for more films to watch

Enjoyed the experience, seating very comfortable with plenty of leg room. It's been many years since my last visit to The Dukes and would definitely go more often, if only they made decent watchable movies, saw The Fabelmans today really good.
Fantastic cinema. Really spacious inside and the seats are very comfy. Only a couple of films showing every week - I wish there could be more - but other than that an all-round great cinema experience.
Always a nice experince... great single screen cinema. Good atmosphere, good staff and programming. One star deducted for the distracting black mark in the center of the screen and the grim mens loos
A really great cinema. We went to see a screening with a Q and A after. It's was really well organised and a very relaxed vibe. Sitting upstairs on the sofas was good too, a three seater one was good for all three of us and so we didn't feel squashed. Sound was great and it felt very grand too. Very nice staff at the bar and some good wines and snacks that you could enjoy in the sunshine on the balcony too. Great location and easy walking distance to both the park and town. The screen was huge too. Well worth a visit and great to Support a non - massive chain cinema too.
