My dad and I spent a weekend away at the Saltmarsh Hotel, and it turned out to be the perfect little escape. From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of calm and welcome that immediately put us at ease. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with a cozy charm that makes you feel tucked away from the rest of the world, yet still so well looked after. The hotel itself has such character – warm, inviting, and full of those small touches that make a stay feel memorable. Our room was comfortable and thoughtfully put together, giving us a great space to unwind at the end of the day. Everything felt clean, cared for, and designed to make you feel right at home. The staff added so much to the experience too – always friendly, attentive, and willing to help, while never being overbearing. It was the kind of service that makes you feel seen and welcomed. One of the real highlights, though, was breakfast in the morning. It brought everything together and became a real centerpiece of the trip. The food was fresh, delicious, and clearly prepared with care. Sitting down to a hearty breakfast with my dad each morning was such a simple joy – the kind of moment that sticks with you long after the trip is over. We had the chance to talk, laugh, and just enjoy the quiet start to the day with no rush or distractions, and that made the weekend feel even more special. Between the relaxing setting, the thoughtful service, and that standout breakfast, the Saltmarsh Hotel gave us exactly what we were looking for: a space to slow down and spend proper time together. It wasn’t just a hotel stay – it became part of the memory of our weekend, something we’ll both look back on fondly. I’d highly recommend the Saltmarsh Hotel to anyone wanting a stay that blends comfort, charm, and genuine hospitality. It’s the kind of place where you leave already knowing you’ll want to return.

We absolutely loved our stay here at the start of the year. We found the welcome and attention of Emma and her staff team to be exceptional. Lovely rooms and great food. As a location it’s brilliant for quick access to walks in the forest or down to the coast. Thank you Saltmarsh team for a much needed 2 nights of rest and recuperating before the next stage of my cancer journey.

Lovely hotel right on the South Downs Way. We enjoyed the sun in the garden, the squirrels running around, the guest lounge with honesty bar and a great breakfast in the morning. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

We were walking the south downs way when we stayed here, and Saltmarsh is pretty much on top of the trail, adding no extra walking to find a bed for the night. Everyone was very friendly, the room was comfortable, and breakfast was good. Recommended!

This is a really delightful BnB! We stayed in the Seahorse room that overlooked the beautiful private garden and over the fields where the walking trail to the Seven Sisters begins. The hotel has an amazing breakfast offering with lots of options. There is also a cosy bar and lounge area for guests to use, plus when it’s warm enough a tranquil garden to sit in. Emma and her team were all lovely and very helpful throughout our stay. Everything is so convenient here - you can walk out the door onto various walking trails and come back for lunch at the Saltmarsh cafe which is equally lovely with lots of homemade delights.

The most enchanting situation. Beautiful 16th Century farmhouse set in the amazing Cuckmere Valley with some of this nations most esoteric scenery and sounds. Whilst walking the stunning downlands and clifftops, every now and again a glimpse of a Spitfire or Hurricane giving someone the thrill of a lifetime over the English Channel, sight of the Battle of Britain. The accommodation is second to none, breakfasts of which the choice is endless, perfect to set your constitution for the day ahead. Nina and daughter Izzy with little band of willing and efficient helpers run a great ship and we can't wait to return.
