You get what you pay for I guess. Let me start with the positives. The staff at reception get an A* for being friendly, welcoming and helpful with anything we needed. We got a powerful fan in the room and that was fantastic in this boiling weather. The location was fantastic, right in front of the i360 (great attraction by the way), close to the shopping centre and a nice 20 min walk from Brighton Pier. And now the things that weren’t so great. It looks like they started renovating the building, but half-way through ran out of money. It looks nice on the outside, but inside the corridors and stairs look ancient. We were on the 4th floor and there was no elevator and it wasn’t nice being out of breath every time we got to our room. Inside the room, the walls were painted a nice colour, there was a nice desk, the bathroom looked new (like new new), but then the carpet was old and stained with God knows what, the shower had only two settings - boiling or very very warm (which was not very nice in this weather, literally sweating while trying to get rid off all the sweat build up in your body). No bin in the bathroom. No cabinet or shelf to put your toiletries on. No wardrobe, cupboard or bed side cabinets for your clothes/things in the room, just a rail with 3-4 hangers. We had heavy, thick duvets in 20-25 degree nighttime weather. And you can’t sleep without anything, because then you wake up with no lower back. Beds were uncomfortable as well. I wouldn’t personally recommend it. Just shell out a bit more and go somewhere better.

Lovely staff. Room was spot on, really good size for a double, plenty of space to put 2 suitcases and extra bags from shopping. Bathroom is sizeable and shower is normal size. A very convenient spot because it's close to the beach, food places and sainsbury's. Had no problems the entire stay which was 3 nights. Would do stay again

basic is a generous description for Cecil Hotel. We pay £123 per night and there is no towel and toothbrush. No fridge. No elevator. Imagine you walk up 4 floor and see the room looks absolutely nothing like the photos. How disappointing is that. definitely the worst place I've ever stayed. I doubt the validity of those 5 star comments. People please don't come to this place even you're on budget. It'll ruin your holiday

This will be my 4th time staying here. The destination is perfect as it's right along the sea front and is only a short walk from everything including the train station. The staff are very friendly and welcoming when they greet you at the door. Rooms are small and simple with a small bathroom but are ideal for a short stay. Smokey's food is lovely and the breakfast they offer is really good too. I love it here and will keep coming back again and again! I would recommend this place 10/10, very worth the money compared to other hotels along the sea front.

Very good price. Stayed here in a family room with three friends and it worked out at less than £25 each for the night! The very friendly staff on reception provided us with maps as we hadn't been to Brighton before. Room was beautifully decorated, not huge but comfortable for four adults. Room had lovely sea-views. No parking associated with the hotel, but would highly recommend Regency Mews Secure Parking for anybody needing it. Brilliant location, very close to the new Brighton i360 attraction and beach, short walk to the Lanes. Tea, coffee etc. in the room as well as soaps and shower gel/shampoo. Would definitely stay here again!
