   I arranged a viewing after seeing a property on Rightmove and was told I was the first to view it. At the viewing, I immediately confirmed to the agent that I wanted to take the property and pay a holding deposit. The agent reassured me that this was fine, confirmed it would be fully managed by them, and said they’d be in touch later that day to take the payment. I followed up several times by phone, but was put on hold each time. Then, out of the blue, I received a call to say that somebody else had taken the property. The agent has tried to blame the landlord, but if I was ready and willing to pay the deposit on the spot and was the first person to view it, why was it still being shown to others? This was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time. I certainly would not have viewed the property had I known my interest and deposit would not be taken seriously. Very unprofessional and misleading service. EDIT/REPLY; Thank you for your reply, however your explanation does not add up. When I phoned your office to ask how a property is secured, I was clearly told that it is on a first come, first serve basis and that the holding deposit is what secures it. Based on that information, I proceeded in good faith. As this is a fully managed property, the landlord would usually have very little direct involvement in the selection process. From the outside, this inconsistency gives the impression that your explanation is not entirely honest. It is very disappointing to be given conflicting information, particularly when making such an important commitment.

   Maslens have been highly efficient and communicative when letting out my two flats. They look after both the landlords and tenants well ensuring any issues are dealt with promptly including over bank holidays when my tenant needed the boiler fixed. There were quite a few teething issues with both flats and they were really helpful in making sure it was all sorted out. I would definitely recommend using a good letting agent such as Maslens as opposed to trying to self manage unless you are highly experienced in that area.

   Can’t recommend Maslen highly enough.I dealt with Rob and Winnie at their Fiveways branch in Brighton and they were so helpful.Helped me find a lovely new place to live and made the whole rental process easy and painless.From start to finish they kept me informed on every detail and from the day I looked at the property until the day I moved in was only a month.Would definitely recommend them to everyone.

   I’ve just recently started renting with Maslen, and so far the experience has been great. Georgina has been awesome right from initial communication to moving in day, really professional, Informative and genuinely a lovely person. I had an issue with my hot water over the BH weekend and it was sorted really quickly, again communications from the Maslen team was really good. Nice to have a good agent!

But we have been delighted with the excellent service provided by David Maslan. Nick and Georgina, who have done the bulk of the work have both been very responsive, knowledgeable, and extremely efficient as well as very personable professionals to deal with. In addition Maslen's rates are very reasonable without additional hidden charges. We would highly recommend them.    Thank you to Nick and his superb team at Maslen for their advice, above the call of duty assistance, and their total commitment to their clients. It is not often one comes across a lettings agent that places as much value on the tenant as they do on the landlord. Jamie was fantastic, understanding exactly what we needed in a home, the urgency of the situation, and the stress we are under. He made the house hunt a doddle for us. Nick has guided us through all the rest with expert advice and again, rare to find an agency that cares about tenants and really does a proper job of matching tenants to homes to landlords. Exceptional service, exceptional communication, friendly, real people. I cannot recommend Maslen more highly.
