Seems good all round, we very quickly popped in and found what we needed. The shelves were well stocked - the only slight downside is that there weren’t enough tills open for the number of people, and there was quite a queue. The staff on the tills could have been a bit friendlier but didn’t really seem like they wanted to be there.
Middle aisle is a good place to find a bargain! Got a Xmas toy soldier for £5. Bargain!
After dropping off a friend in the neighborhood, I decided to pick up some essentials at this branch instead of my usual local store. While the layout was quite similar in many ways - included a EV charging station - I was disappointed to find only two checkout tills open. Although this was understandable, given the store wasn’t very busy, what I found unacceptable—especially since the store was only built three years ago—was the complete absence of self-service checkout tills. Since I rarely do big shops, I almost exclusively rely on these self-service options at most supermarkets, including my local Lidl. I’m curious to know why this particular Lidl chose not to install any self-service checkouts.
the "manager" is extremely rude, rude beyond words! most of the staff here are but this is Lild, what else can you expect. crazy how they ask you to lift your bags in the trolley, no other normal shop does this. also the fact they don’t have self checkout is insane, so instead we have the angry little workers behind the tills opening the odd 1 or 2 lanes for us to all squish together and fight for a space, with the "manager" shouting his head off as per usual. in fact I remember a few years ago he had a go at one of his staff members and said for him to "look in the mirror and see if you’re worth it or not" absolutely shocking behaviour!
Very nice, good value, good choice, friendly staff and no self service checkouts, so you have to wait and speak to the person on the checkout and not having to wait for someone to check your age or you have bought certain things that needs approval and that unexpected item in bagging area
Could do better.. ban children's trolleys as dangerous.. prices are always in the right place for the.item . Slow tills never enough open.. but great produce and a proper car park
Huge range of good quality items for sale, friendly staff and loads of bargains to be had. Ample parking including blue badge spaces. What's not to like?
Shout out to lidl on fir covert Road... I found out my trolley token fell off my keys when I got there so thought I'd ask for trolley token whilst I was in the shop. I understand its your policy but I was a mother trying to do a weekly shop and I ended up choosing between various things because I couldn't fit it all in the basket! Didn't have my daughters pram with me either.. They couldn't unlock the trolleys as they don't have a trolley key and they wouldn't let me use a pound from the till because and I quote "too many people haven't returned the pounds back to the till " I totally understand as I've worked in a few shops in my career but I'd always help someone out. I then had to proceed around the shop, with my 18 month old daughter, on my hip/and/or walking around the shop with her walking herself. It's a good job my daughters so good.. I totally understand you need a trolley token but as I explained I lost mine. There was no offer of help at all..
I've no problem with the store or staff, but think that the Lidl reward system needs to be clearer and more user friendly. I've frequently qualified for money off coupons, only to be told that they have expired.
Left home at 17.45, arrived at 18.00, quick flit through, no list, I get what appeals. Quiet at this time, all the mums at home feeding their kids & their daddies. No time to ponder, it is Greek week so I am looking forward to trying new things. I know that I l8ke sour dough bread so that's in, along with some crusty rolls. The salad is extensive, too much to chose from, so I get what I liked before. A swift glance at the middle of, up & down until the last row which gets a second look. Several bits appeal in the clearance, a gas lighter for my Trangia, (google it), a aerosol of white mastic, ideal to seal the 13A twin sso, that I installed yesterday. Gotta maintain the IP66, by sealing the fixing holes! (It's what I do). Greek section did not disappoint, I will try anything, (almost), once. I also got a kitchen herbs pot for a quid, parsley, on my windowsill as I cook. I was lost for choice of rice, until I observed a chinese mum & daughter getting the long grain, brown rice. Thank you, whoever you are, a good choice just made for me, not merely by chance. When the trolley looks full is when I go to the checkout, only one till on stream but I observed the guy on till no. 7, , call for another. Quick as a flash up comes till no. 3 & I am there, wake up, it's not time to switch off yet. The young lady on the till is most helpful, if asked, much to the annoyance of the guy next in line. £88.88 the total, & it is just for me. I saved 0.78p apparently. Out to my trusty steed, all safely gathered in the panniers are packed, safely. By the time I arrived home at 18,45, unpacked, stowed away. Not bad for an hour, & I get to ride the bike too! I arrived home from a trip solo, to & from Scotland, a week ago & not been shopping until this.
