   I ordered a butterscotch latte and a salt beef bagel, and unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with both. The salt beef was the thin supermarket-style slices rather than proper brisket, and the butterscotch flavour in the latte was non-existent. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was calm, and the coffee shop itself was very clean — and I really wanted to like this place. I’d even be open to trying it again in the future, but based on this visit the food and coffee were below standard for me.

   The bagels at VanillaTree are incredible! The bread is so squidgy and heavy which is exactly how all bagels should be. Although the bagels are on the pricer side, the quality of ingredients is top tier, particularly the salt beef slices; so you do get what you pay for. I had the Rueben bagel (cheese, saltbeef, pickle, sauerkraut, Russian sauce) and my boyfriend had the Salt beef (saltbeef, melted cheese, pickles, mustard mayo). They were both filling and tasty, with a slight spicy kick in the Rueben. My boyfriend also said the coffee was really good! It was very busy when we went which is telling of VanillaTrees popularity. The staff were attentitve and friendly, and the decor was cozy but modern. We will 100% be back.

   lovely coffee shop, the drinks (a matcha and a milkshake) were incredible and could not be improved upon. same for the food, the honey and walnut bagel was absolutely lovely. great bagels and quality drinks- i couldn’t recommend this place more. it would have been nice to be greeted at the door, as we weren’t sure if we had to wait to be sat or if we could go wherever. otherwise, a very pleasant experience !

   Great food, great staff & great coffee! Whether you’re just after a quick coffee, looking for a lunch with a difference, or maybe want to treat yourself to a different breakfast, this could be somewhere well worth checking out. The staff always seem happy and welcoming. It may take you a little while to familiarise yourself with the full menu, festooned blackboard style across a few walls. There should be something for everyone, ranging from breakfasts, coffees, smoothies, the obligatory cakes etc to deli style sandwiches. Around the colder months, don’t be put off by the fogged up windows and see if there’s a table free (they do take away too). Can highly recommend the french toast with bacon & maple syrup!
