Intimate and tastefully decorated restaurant on Correction Wynd, overlooked by the iconic St Nicholas Kirk. Their curated lunch and dinner menus showcase local, seasonal produce - including fish, meat and vegetarian options. To start, we got the smoked salmon with feta, peach and mint and the ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi was tasty, but the delicate smoked salmon was overpowered by its yoghurt sauce drizzle. For mains we had the halibut and the bavette steak. Both were perfectly cooked - good sear on the fish; medium-rare steak. The home made tartare sauce was delicious. For dessert we opted for the Basque cheesecake with strawberry sorbet and the coconut parfait with chocolate custard. Every dish was beautifully presented. The cocktails were lovely too, especially the hazelnut espresso martini. We anticipated relatively small portions, such is fine dining, but we left with full bellies! Service was friendly and polite, if a little reserved. Although it was a quiet midweek evening when we visited, I would generally recommend booking in advance. We really enjoyed our experience at Moonfish CafΓ© and look forward to returning one day to try a different seasonal menu!

Absolutely lovely restaurant. The food was excellent, with experimental flavour and texture combinations which worked very well. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I'd definitely suggest making a reservation beforehand, as the space is limited.

Maybe the reviews by others and plenty of coverage online hyped it up abit for me but I found myself wanting more. The restaurant was really popular and for good reason. Great decor, very welcoming service and amazing presentations. Maybe I was expecting too much but the fish wasn't the star in the dishes. Still well executed nonetheless but maybe overshadowed by the ensemble? Would have to return to try again when the menu changes so I'm still keeping my hopes up.

Excellent food, Excellent Service, Excellent menu choice overall. I would highly recommend this quaint little restaurant opposite the church. Staff are polite and courteous which in this modern society we live in has become almost impossible to find. It's refreshing to find this type of service. We spent just over an hour here. To what I believe has the 100% potential to be Michelin star quality very soon indeed. The quality of food you taste on each and every mouthful is a delight on the taste Presentation is excellent as seen in photos. And this is what's special about this place. It ticks all the boxes in the itinerary. Bravo Moonfish Cafe. Great food.

My absolute favourite around here ! Place is lovely, service is perfect, warm, efficient without being pushy. Plates look amazing and this is nothing compared to whatβs on them : food is fresh, perfectly prepared (fish among all), very nicely seasoned with a twist and adventurous touch. If I lived in Aberdeen, this would be my number one choice β€οΈ

One of the best meals iβve had this year. Before visiting Aberdeen, Iβd read reviews and looked at the menu but I honestly was not inspired. Arriving at the restaurant, again I thought it looked rather simple and casual. Then reading the menu I was again not very inspired. But oh my I was wrong, the food was mind blowing, it was sooo good I wanted to come back the next day. My starter consisted of scallops buried inside a puff pastry in the form of an actual scallop. Wow, so yummy and so cool. My main had an Indian kick to it with the sauce although it was falafels and a hake piece. My partnerβs food was also incredible and we honestly felt that anything one orders will be great in this place. As mentioned, the place was very simple and cosy without any specific decoration or anything. Staff were very simple, nothing incredible. Service took a while to be honest but we didnβt mind so much. Value for the meal was great also, 75Β£ for two for a two course meal and a drink; it felt like a bargain. This restaurant is close to Michelin star status in my opinion. Highly recommend.

Delightful lunch here at Moonfish. For many years this was a regular lunchtime spot when I worked in Aberdeen Town Centre and I missed it. The food is just as good, and the menu is as interesting as ever. The staff are great, easily and enthusiastically answer questions about the food and take an interest in what we think. This is a small busy place and making a reservation is recommended, the lunchtime helpings are just right for a midday meal. We enjoyed being here, but be aware it's a busy place which can be noisy. Also the booking site give very strict times for occupation of the table. I think we had 1 hour 45 minutes for a table of two - which is more than adequate. No idea if they allow longer in the evenings. Thanks to everyone at Moonfish, and a special thanks to the chef for creating such a great menu!

Reasonable for a fine dining experience. All 3 course were absolutely delicious. This is the kind of place that it doesn't really matter what you order you're probably going to love it. Best meal I've ever had.

Absolutely fantastic, we managed to grab a table last minute and they really looked after us. Andrew was very knowledgeable on the wine and all staff were evidently passionate about the food. Really good value for money too.
