Great food, warm and efficient service and a great setting. This compares very favourably to restaurants in elsewhere, including the best that London, Edinburgh and Glasgow has to offer.
I visited today for lunch, I’ve popped in twice in the past for drinks but today was my first time trying the food. Really extensive menu, great vegan and vegetarian options too (the vegan noodles are great). The lunch time tapas menu sounded really good value for money had I been in a party of 2 - will do this next time. Monika served me and she was very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were really tasty too and they had 2 pages full to choose from. Will be back
Best meal we have had in a long time. We visited on Sunday afternoon to try out the Thai Tapas menu. This includes 5 tapas for £25 with unlimited jasmine rice. Everything was delicious, I couldn’t fault any of the dishes we ordered. The venue itself is stunning inside from the dark wood panelling to the decorations. It always feels like a special occasion when you dine at Chaophraya. A big shout out to Monika, our server, who made the whole experience for us. She was very friendly and attentive, offering recommendations of drinks and dishes. Nothing was ever too much. She told us about upcoming promotions which we may need to take her up on. Overall, we had a great time and left the venue very happy.
Chaophraya has become our go-to Thai restaurant, we absolutely love the Birmingham location, so when my friend turned 40, we decided to celebrate at the Aberdeen location. And honestly, it didn’t disappoint! From the booking to the actual evening, everything was smooth. Oil, the manager, was so kind and professional throughout. Jessica W, our server, was lovely and made sure the night ran perfectly. We pre-ordered from the set menu so we could try a bit of everything...the food was fresh, flavourful, and absolutely delicious. The drinks and dessert were great too. They even surprised us with a few bottles of chardonnay and cake for the birthday girl, which was such a thoughtful touch. 10/10 would recommend Chaophraya if you're after a tasty, feel-good meal in a beautiful setting. Excellent food that tingles your taste buds and fantastic ambience that depicts Thai, Chinese and Japanese environment. Served by Julia and satisfied to the fullest. Prompt service and response by the rest of the team as well.
Beautiful ambience. Being a vegetarian I wasn't sure about the options, but loved the *Jay platter. Overall it was an amazing experience.
Amazing transformation of this building, from what I think was previously a bank. Not only was the building amazing, the food and professional service was too! The presentation of the food was impressive and of a high quality. My favourite dish was King Scallop Black Pudding, simply sublime! Our waiter was also excellent and the fact that he asked whether we wanted to wait before he brought our main course was refreshing to say the least. Highly recommended!
Good service but good could be better, duck was dried, lamb was slightly overcooked (not even sightly pink) and chocolate fondant was not fondant (i.e. the chocolate was completely cooked inside, it was more a normal chocolate cake). I didn't feel any alcohol in the cocktail either (but that's common in any place as many restaurants put a lot of ice when doing cocktails). Decoration is superb. I feel it didn't much to make the food excellent because the sauces and curries are just excellent.
