This place used to be good but it sure has gone downhill. Ordered “pop corn chicken” for my son, absolutely disgusting, old chicken breast just chopped up in tiny pieces with a slight layer of something on it. Roast lamb without stuffing, probably the worst roast I have ever had. Potatoes were hard and stale. My husbands burger could have passed for a kids meal, would hate to imagine how small the kids burger would be. Very young staff need more training , were offered no sauces etc just awful looking and tasting food put in front of us. Whilst we were there the table a couple of rows down sent their food back. I don’t like to complain so didnt say anything about it. Didnt stay for desert, prob worse than the mains. The only good thing about this place was the Halloween decorations. A real shame as it’s a nice looking pub. Would I go back? Not even if you paid me!

We arrived just before midday intending to have lunch and were greeted by Judy and Jo. They explained that food service began at midday and took our drinks orders and took us to our table. They were both very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The food was delicious, excellent service and a lovely pub. Will definitely be back again.

Superb pub right on the edge of the New Forest. The food and beer is excellent and so is the service. Lots of space to eat and drink indoors and a huge garden with both covered and open seating. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. You can even get there by train, as Ashurst station shares the same car park

We came here for dinner, the pub itself is really nice and has a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of inside seating and also a lovely outside area that is covered. The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was quick. The only slight let down was the food, we felt it was quite expensive for the quality of food we received. Other than that, it was a lovely place to stop off for a drink.

New Years Day. The food was lovely as ever. Service was good and timely. We gave them a quick call to book and we were fortunate to sneak into the restaurant as by the time we left the pub was packed! They have always been our favourite pub/restaurant in the area and have never disappointed. HOWEVER, the menu has got a bit small. This could have been a time of year thing, it could be a post pandemic cost/availability issue. Don't get me wrong the menu is good! It would just be nice to have more choices perhaps the return of chalkboard specials?

Great location in the middle of the New Forest, this local pub is very spacious with a beautiful outdoor terrace. Authentic British pub experience with nice craft beers available!

Pub has a huge garden which is lovely in the summer. A massive cosy interior in the winter. Food is pricey but I feel brilliant value as the quality is great. Service is outstanding. Sunday lunch is the best around. Miles of forest to explore behind and build up an appetite. Really enjoyed some of the events put on recently I look forward to some more

I very rarely post 1 star, but I don't advise eating here. We were staying down the road and this was the closes option to dine out. The food is very overpriced for what you get (most mains £15+) I ordered the scampi which came out cold. The head chef was a great guy and seemed to be doing most of the serving but he really shouldn't be doing this! Sorted out the meal and gave us some extra scampi which was great, but not his job to do! Service staff more interested in having a chat than taking orders or remembering them. 75 quid got us 2 starters, 2 very poor mains, a 6 quid bottle of wine and a brownie the size of a thumb nail with a small bit of ice cream. When the staff warn you how small it is, that's not a great sign, especially when charging 6 quid for it. Probably a great pub to have a pint in and sit out. Avoid food in the evening!

Visited Ashurst to take a day hike in the nearby woodland of New Forest. The route I planned was around 18km of which just the 3-4 were on an existing track. The rest was completely off track and I was rewarded with a "shower of nature". Streams, wild horses, mud, bog, low vegetation, deer etc. The pub visit for a pint was the cherry on top. Great pub, friendly staff, and a well deserved IPA after a great day. Would happily go back to explore further.
