We stopped by The Greyhound Inn in Whitchurch-on-Thames for a short break during our countryside walk, hoping to have a nice cup of tea. To our surprise, tea wasn't on offer, which is unusual for a traditional British pub. Nevertheless, we decided to stay and ordered a local shandy, sparkling water, and a portion of chips to share. The setting more than made up for the limited drinks menu. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a spacious interior that still feels cozy thanks to the tasteful decor and soft lighting. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and relaxed, whether you’re a local or just passing through like us. What really stood out was the garden area. There were plenty of tables available, and even on a pleasant day, it wasn’t overcrowded. It’s clearly a popular resting point for walkers and cyclists, and the garden is ideal for enjoying a drink or bite to eat in the fresh air. The shandy was refreshing and clearly made from local ingredients, which added a nice touch of authenticity. The chips were hot, crispy, and satisfying — just what we needed after a few miles of walking. The service was quick and friendly, and although we didn’t try the full menu, the dishes we saw being served around us looked hearty and appealing. All in all, The Greyhound Inn is a charming stop for a casual drink or meal, especially if you're out exploring the surrounding area. While tea lovers might be slightly disappointed, the pub’s atmosphere and comfort more than make up for it. We’ll certainly consider coming back — perhaps next time for a full lunch or dinner.

Great pub, one of my favourites. Even though we have to drive past 10 pubs to get there we call it our local. No food cooked here but have different food trucks roll up pretty much every weekend which dish out some great food which you can eat inside. Some of the best variety of beers ive come across. Open fire, staff are so friendly and welcoming, locals friendly. Board games next to the bar. Just a perfect little gem of a pub. Wish we lived walking distance :)

The Greyhound is a cracking country pub right in the heart of Whitchurch on Thames. Lottie & the team serve amazing beer in a cosy traditional bar, and regularly have food trucks cooking up amazing street food!

We’ll run pub, just as pubs should be! Prompt and friendly service, tables cleared regularly and very dog friendly too! There appears to be a rotation of different food vans on offer throughout the week. A good spot to relax after walking the Pangbourne Meadows

I didn’t have food there but decided to stop for a drink on a beautiful hot day. A soft drink was £2 each. The interior was nicely decorated and was refreshingly cool. I decided to sit outside although the ambiance was more basic.

Was looking for a cozy pub with a fire, and this one didn’t disappoint. Nice mix of friendly locals. Bar staff friendly and good range of drinks. This pub has a different visiting food vans each night out the front, so you can buy there and eat inside. It was the pizza van when I went - really lovely home made pizza. Highly recommend this place.

Visited this pub for the first time in many years recently. Found it to be tasteful refurbished, busy with a great atmosphere. A very busy pop up food van in the car park was an obvious attraction. The beer was of an excellent quality in my opinion & the landlady very busy but politely attentive. An enjoyable visit!

Good luck to Jason who took over this pub 3 minutes before our walking group arrived. With big smiles he produced cold drinks gratis , telling us to donate our payment to our charity - walking London to Cornwall for macmillan. Those of us who are local will be back soon when pub fully open

Really friendly local pub serving good food. Stopped here whilst on holiday, we made for this place having enjoyed it a few years ago and we were not disappointed, the weather was hot & humid outside so we sat inside & they were happy for our Lurcher to occupy a large area of floor, the drinks were cold and the food, a hound burger was really tasty. Will be stopping by next time we are in the area.
