Nice ambience. Food was good. Portions mostly good. Both my wife & I had Macaroni Cheese. She had a small portion & I had the normal portion. Weirdly, hers came with chips but mine didn't. Surely, if you order a small portion it's because you don't want too much. You don't want chips with it. Everyone enjoyed their meals so I would go back.
Whilst we booked a table in the morning of our visit 4th June for 3 people for 1:30pm. We arrived & realised that the table had not been booked for us. We eventually did get a table, which was in the vicinity of the outside seated area. Which was v cold ever time the door opened. It took a while before anyone came over to our table. Eventually our drinks order was taken but still no menus?? Server went away then came back 5mins later with menus. We made our choice of chicken & bacon mayo sandwiches x 2 & 1 steak burger with only lettuce & chips. Our food arrived the sandwich fillings were slightly warm & oozed of mayonnaise the bacon was v salty, altho nice to have fruit ie apples/grapes with the sandwich my apple slices were turning brown & grapes were bruised & some spoilt.we both didn't finish our sandwiches due to the ba on being v salty. The burger was good tho.. Not the best experience here. Noone asked if we enjoyed our meal. No one came to ask if we were enjoying out food.
Had such a relaxing time and great food. The omelette was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing, luckily with the help of good weather that I could sit outside. The prices were great as well, definitely worth visiting.
This is a lovely bar and coffee shop. They sell reasonably priced food and the portions are plentiful. Their cakes are great value and the staff have a smile on their faces. They are dog friendly and will serve pooches a bowl of water when they arrive. I would recommend visiting with your furry friend for a good homely meal or coffee in a relaxed environment.
Was very surprised but how good everything was. Really good and friendly service. No vegan options on the menu but chefs where happy to make me some Vegan macaroni. It was delicious!
Regularly meet for ladies lunch since opening. Last few month 2 polite , happy super obliging young girls taking orders what a difference good staff make. Food not as good as previous but getting staff has to be difficult in the market. Great coffee, always warm and welcoming.
I visited the Slate & Grain for the first time today where I was greeted by a very polite and helpful assistant called Charlotte who showed me to a seat, and after providing me a menu she took my drink order, and upon delivering my drink she took my food order. I was very happy with the surroundings which were very clean and tidy. After having my lunch which was very good and tasty, and well-priced. I can happily recommend this restaurant.
Curry evening May 2022. Two excellent meals. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be doing this again. Previous review 2 years ago: Best family meal this year. 5 eating with table booked for 6pm 10th October. This followed a lunch visit on Tuesday for three on Tuesday which was so nice we decided to have dinner. The menu wasn't extensive and could have been pub grub. But it was absolutely a cut above. Every dish was very well done and nicely presented. The service was super friendly. Five stars is for the complete package: Nicely set table, very attractive contemporary fittings, nicely lit, spacious but warm and cosy at the same time, great service, unexpectedly good food, and excellent value for money.
