Shoes aren’t even a week old and I paid to have them protective sprayed and the leather is already scuffed and coming off on the toes. Great.

Very bad experience at the store with this rude disrespectful woman at the till who was literally yelling at me for returning a pair of faulty sandals which were hurting my heel since the day of purchase. Here's what happened. I bought a pair of sandals less than a week ago which I found to be the right size although I didn't notice the peculiar design which would later cause a lot of discomfort to my legs. Having used the sandals briefly (driving, walking short distances, etc.) I found that the pain wasn't going away. It felt like I was stepping on the edge of a knife every time even when I wasn't putting any pressure on them. I was hoping it would go away yet the pain remained forcing me to eventually let go of them. I followed protocol by first calling the store and informing them about the issue to which a gentleman over the phone asked me to bring the product even if it didn't have the original packaging or receipt. He said with the receipt I could get either a refund or an exchange while without the receipt it would be a refund only. I took his word although I didn't ask for his name and went to the store the next day to return the footwear. Upon reaching the store and finding no suitable replacement (bigger size), I ended up at the till with this burly woman who although friendly at first turned maniacal when she realised I was returning an used product. She started screaming in front of other customers causing a lot of embarrassment. I tried to stay calm but she kept going as if I was a thief or fraudster. She also made questionable comments about my intention and how I couldn't use and return stuff however I like. I even told her that their store person agreed to returning the item even without a receipt but she didn't believe me and rambled on for at least 10-15mins. I had to tell her off to defend myself (not to mention my blood pressure was shooting through the roof) for a simple return and refund transaction. My question to her was, "How would a customer know if the product is faulty without wearing (or using) it first?" And if found to be defective it's only natural for them to return the item for a suitable replacement which the store didn't have. Since no replacement was available, refund was the only option. Wonder what her solution to the problem was since she wasn't giving me any. Finally, I asked for the manager and somehow the situation was resolved. The lady to my surprise was once again calm after her chat with the manager. I'm thinking it's the same guy I spoke to over the phone although I couldn't see him since he was in the backroom. In conclusion, my experience at the store was ruined beyond measure due to the staff's adversarial reaction to a simple task. However, this is not the first time I've spotted this lady talk in this manner esp. to non-English customers. I'm not sure what's causing her to react in this manner but it shouldn't be allowed at any cost. Before leaving, I warned her not to treat or talk to customers in this manner since we will not tolerate it and would escalate the matter to the highest level possible. Feedback to management: While I appreciate the store's decision to accept a used footwear I condemn the way in which the situation was handled by your ground staff - esp. this elderly woman (name unknown) who feared for her job which she used as an excuse to argue with me. Please provide necessary training or replace them so customers can shop in peace. Thank you.

Brilliant shoe shop. You find some real hidden gems in here. Keith who works there always goes above and beyond and incredibly polite and friendly. Bracknell store 5 stars but marked as 4 as it would be great to see more diverse range of footwear in Deichmann. Otherwise, I've had no problems with shoes from there and lasted me years ☺️
