We had such a bad experience on Saturday, I wouldn’t usually leave a review but feel I have to it was so bad. We came to get my son measured for his very first shoes and the staff ruined what was supposed to be a special milestone for us. My mum was visiting for the afternoon, so we really wanted to go together. We couldn’t get to the store until 5pm but we checked online and Google says it’s open until 6 on a Saturday so we figured we had enough time. When we arrived there were a few customers browsing the store and doors open. It was a mess in there and the staff did seem busy tidying up but no one greeted us or asked if we needed help. After a few minutes of lingering we asked for help with shoe measuring. The woman was extremely rude, started complaining about how busy they’d been and how staff had already stayed late and there wasn’t enough time. I explained we’d checked online and it said they closed at 6 and she flat out said they didn’t! It was only 5:15 at this point. We stuck to our guns and said we’d be quick, so she called another assistant over and she was just as miserable and rude. She quickly measured my sons feet, no conversation at all, then left us to it, saying if we want to try any on to come and find her. We chose a pair and she brought them to us, again just leaving us to put them on and check the fit (which we didn’t know how to do). When my baby crawled the shoe came straight off so it was clearly a bad fit. We called her back and asked her to stay to check the fit with another pair, which she did very unhappily. At this point we felt the need to rush and get out - very much feeling unwelcome and in the way. There were two guys at the till that were helpful when I wanted to pay with a voucher. I only wish they’d been there to serve us from the start. Overall they ruined the experience for me - buying my son his first pair of shoes and getting measured at Clark’s. I’m sure the staff are trained to do better and make this feel special. I understand they were coming to the end of what must have been a very busy day, but 1) update your Google listing - as far as I knew the store shouldn’t have been closing until 6. I have since seen on the actual website it closes at 5:30 but we arrived in plenty of time for 5:30 too so shouldn’t have been made to feel like problem customers. And 2) if a 10 month old baby is getting measured for shoes, they are clearly his first. Be a salesperson and show some interest! Represent your brand! It’s a rite of passage to get measured at Clark’s but will no longer be for my family.

I am a musician who was busking near the Winchester branch of Clark’s on Friday 7th June 2024. I ensured I was not in the shops way, and the volume was reasonable, therefore adhering to any rules and regulations. I was there for around 45 minutes, having played my set of 10 songs each once, and repeated only 2 of those tracks. The public were enjoying it. To my sincere surprise, the manager of the Clark’s branch (a male member of staff) came out of his store and said to us “you’re boring. Can you do anything more than 5 songs? It’s just boring”. He then stormed back into his shop. This interaction was rude, unprofessional & confrontational. All qualities that a manager should not be, especially when representing his store. If he wanted us to move, he could have politely said. But this vile, angry comment made me pick up and move, I felt completely shocked. Any starting-out busker after hearing this would probably give up entirely, after years of playing on the streets of different cities i have never come across a ruder, more confrontational person, especially a man who’s on duty for such a prestigious store. What does this present to customers? If anyone overheard i’m sure they would never shop there again. Everything he said was in an angry tone, full of glaring looks. It’s just not acceptable. I feel let down & disgusted by the whole experience, and wish for it to never happen to anyone ever again. This man needs to be reminded of basic staff code of conduct. Vile.

I had a very positive experience at Clarks Winchester yesterday. Our salesperson was Amelia G and she was so great with my two boys (age 2 & 4) she was very patient with the littlest one. I felt she really engaged with them positively and listened to the eldest with what he likes. I would highly recommend this store as it feels very personal. Thank you so much for making getting shoes (usually very stressful) a good experience.

Didn't buy anything as didn't find the right thing but would highly recommend for parents and kids/toddlers. Took our toddler in and Dean was incredibly helpful and good with her - measuring her feet and telling us how to look for signs of a size change, size of shoes being correct, and high in steps etc. He was brilliant and we will definitely be going back. :)

Just to say that we received excellent customer service from Sean today. He was friendly and helpful. He is a real credit to your company. This kind of service makes shopping the pleasure it should be.

Staff here were lovely, it was packed with children needing school shoes but they were quick getting to the next customer. We forgot to book an appointment but didn’t mind waiting as the young woman who served us was very good with my children (they loved her tattoos!)
