Visited the bar several evenings running, as there was great football coverage. The bar was very comfortable and welcoming, warm, and the beer was great! Will definitely be visiting again.
Room very small and dated. Bathroom needed a deep clean. Low ceilings so not good for any one over 5ft10. Was at a wedding 7 mins away in taxi which cost £25 each way. Shocking price. Way overpriced. Charged £15 extra to check in earlier. No breakfast included or bottled water for room. No soya milk. Had the worst solo artist blasting out songs which was so loud couldn’t even hear the tv or relax. What should have been a lovely night away with my partner turned into a stressful one. 10pm and the music is still bellowing. Hotel overpriced and noise from other guests walking around. Lady in reception was lovely. Wouldn’t stay here again Or recommend to others. Expected a decent stay and website photos are misleading. I hate leaving bad reviews but it has to be said.
Nestled in the little town of Pangbourne, the George Hotel not only offers a cold pint and a great range of offerings for lunch, but they offer rooms too. The staff were welcoming and made you easily settle in for the rainy afternoon. Centrally located and easy to find.
Had a lovely lunch at The George with a group of 11 ladies. We pre-ordered our sandwiches and everything was spot on — fantastic value, generous portions, and really tasty. The staff were so attentive and accommodating, happy to meet our requests and let us take our time. Couldn’t fault it — highly recommend!
Stayed here on the 5th September for 1 night thank god it was only 1 night absolutely awful. The hotel room was disgusting it was not clean. It was cramped. The bathroom was disgusting. The pictures on this website do not match what you get when you arrive would never go back there again. I think it was a train that went past seemed like every 10 minutes got no sleep at all
Absolute Horrible experience.. Greeted 5 mins after standing at reception. only interested in taking my money. no information given about the hotel. dinner.. breakfast wifi etc. The rooms are dated back to the 1980s. The whole pub/hotel rooms just feel sad/dated and just no love there. Dont normally put bad reviews but this one was so bad. Both of us left at 6am as we. Couldn’t get out of there quick enough.. Not trying to sound horrible but it was just a complete shambles
Visited for a family get together. Good traditional pub. Wide selection of beers. Lunch in the restaurant was very good, very comfortable, excellent service and a wide choice of fayre. Food was well cooked and nicely presented.
The food was outstanding absolutely beautiful meat. Service was great as always good selection of wines, spirits and beers. Dee and Jojo are excellent hosts
Good food ,clean warm rooms beds comfortable will stay anytime when working in area. Friendly staff and good service and good prices
The owners fiancée, ZO ZO, was very helpful by taking me to visit the training ground prior to commencing security training. I suffer with asthma and there was some smoking taking place internally which affected my breathing, so this was a little disappointing. I did request a bath, and they gave me one which was a luxury. The hotel is being renovated and this will take some time. I believe situational awareness training takes place within the hotel, I only found this out during my stay here. So if you are wanting to seriously undergo an aweakening then this will be part of your training. For me the most important thing was a person willing to put themselves out to help me, and zozo did this, so thank you.
