A family held and run pub over a number of generations. The pub has limited opening hours and doesn't do food. Beer is direct from the cask, with limited choice, but what is available is served in tip top condition. Bottled beer, wine and soft drinks available. Landlord and wife are welcoming and engaging, the premises are very clean and has a nice beer garden.

Odd little hostelry, tucked away from the main road and on the approach to the village church. It appears to have very odd opening hours, but the landlord was kind enough to let me have a quick pint before he locked up. This pub is like stepping back in time, you half expect Ada Hugget or Annie Walker to pop their head up!!! Friendly locals and definitely worth a visit, but check the opening times first. Recommended.

We only got as far as putting head around the door to ask if food was available - sadly not. But it looks a brilliant pub, and all the better for avoiding the food trade. Landlord is to complemented for honestly & cheerfully redirecting us toward a cafe for food. A proper gentleman.

Only accessible on foot or Sedan Chair, this magnificent find is tucked away down a thin side alley known to just a few refined connoisseurs of ale and wine. Boasting a secluded, enclosed garden, one can hide away in here for days. There is little to tempt you away once you arrive. Brilliant atmosphere so often lacking elsewhere. You will not be disappointed but perhaps a little less wealthy and hungry.

Actually cannot recommend this little gem enough - the most absolute welcoming, friendly humans running a pub with an absolute beautiful garden. Sat in the sun today with a great priced great beer and all the locals were chatty and hilarious. Love it! Cheers guys!

Stuart is fifth generation landlord at this five hundred year old, traditional pub. Fabulous beer and better company...it is a pub from the old school...forget your phone, you'll be too busy talking to the locals...don't miss it.

As others have realised, the very friendly landlord only opens about 20 hours a week now, so you have to be lucky to experience this gem of a pub. They only serve a couple of quality cask ales, alongside wines and spirits. Food is available in both ready salted and cheese & onion varieties. The pub has been in the same family for 5 generations, with the current member being in charge for 40 years now. Hopefully you will be lucky and enjoy a nice relaxing drink in the garden as I did last week.
