   We hired the function room for an art class and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean, cosy, and beautifully decorated for Christmas, which created the perfect atmosphere for our event. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always available when we needed something. Our guests felt comfortable, and everything ran smoothly. Thank you for providing such a lovely space — we’re looking forward to hosting more events here.

   We recently hosted a small company event at Good Companions, and overall the experience was positive. The venue offered all the basic amenities we needed, and most of the food was fresh and enjoyable. However, the apple crumble pie was unfortunately not edible, which was disappointing given the otherwise good quality of the dishes. Additionally, there were no standard 330ml bottles of Coca-Cola available—only the smaller 220ml size. While Pepsi was provided and acceptable for most guests, offering both options in standard sizes would be appreciated. Good Companions has a lot of potential, and with a few improvements to dessert quality and drink availability, it could provide an even better experience for group events.

   Food is always hot, tasty and huge portions! One meal and I’m set for the day. I absolutely love the effort made on the Sunday roasts - super tender meats, perfect roasts, thick gravy, huge yorkshires and raising the bar on the veg with creamy leeks and braised carrots! Definitely not a pre frozen or aunt Bessie’s bargain lunch! Service is generally fast and friendly but I do book in advance so that probably helps. Pub/dining area generally clean and bright and if the table needs a wipe the staff are helpful. Only downside I have experienced on the odd occasion is the noise that can come from boisterous groups, or people through in the bar, who aren’t mindful of others around them which doesn’t get dealt with by staff; but I suppose it’s a risk when you eat in a busy town pub (rather than a quiet country inn!)

   I arranged a lunch for 17. The organisation by, and communication with Claire was first class and it was very easy to manage the process leading up to the event, including arranging menus and pre-ordering meals. On the day, the service was friendly and efficient and all were very pleased with the quality of the food. Highly recommended.

   Visited when we stayed in Eastleigh. I had the steak and my wife had the pie. Both were excellent but the steak was cooked perfectly and one of the best I've had in a pub. Both meals were very reasonable compared to elsewhere locally. The service was both efficient and really friendly. Would have given 5 stars except the pub could probably do with a bit of tlc. But overall would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again in May.

   Not often can I not fault an establishment. The staffing was friendly, attentive and met all our needs. We expected to find standard pub grub, but the food was probably the best I had from what appears to be an unassuming pub in a residential area. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. I would say they are far and above of your burger specialist restaurants and the chips were crispy and we'll seasoned from the off. The Good Companions has a very relaxed and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a quiet drink, a meal or celebrating with loved ones.
