“Just had a great Sunday lunch cooked by Chef Luke. Friendly service from Sam. Roast lamb was great and my wife had a half a roast chicken which she failed to finish - just due to the volume - and to ensure she could fit in some dessert. Cracking crumble and excellent bread and butter pudding with homemade vanilla custard. Great way to end a weekend away. Hoping to book the place for a birthday party next year...”

“This pub has real character and is well worth getting to know! It is very much a local pub... But... The locals are really friendly people. It's right on the river but there is a quiet road between the pub and the river. In the summer you can sit out on the pavement and have a drink and still river watch. The prices are really reasonable and there is a good variety of quality drinks available. There is a pool table in the back bar and opportunities to watch sports but this doesn't dominated the character of the pub. Staff are lovely and the pork scratchings are fresh from the local butchers. Great pub!”

Man behind counter was brilliant, and kept a calm demeanor despite being rushed off of his feet. Despite the fire alarm ruining our second game, this was a great experience. “Had such a wonderful time dining here with a big group of friends. The food was top quality — every dish was delicious and well-prepared. But what really made the experience stand out was the service. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly patient. A big thank you to Manager AJ and our lovely waitress Dina — both were so attentive and genuinely friendly. There were also two male waiters who helped us a lot throughout the meal, though we didn’t catch their names. Still, their service didn’t go unnoticed! With a group our size, things can get messy, but the team handled everything so smoothly. Orders were taken clearly and accurately, and when it came time to split the bill, it was done in such a neat and organized way — really appreciated that. We all left full and happy. I’ll definitely be back, and won’t hesitate to recommend this place to my friends!”

“Hursley Cafe is definitely the café we’ve visited the most since moving to Southampton. With its great value for money, we find ourselves coming here almost every Sunday. This is a record of our visit two weeks ago, after our eldest daughter and her friend finished rugby practice in Eastleigh. We ordered Egg Royale, Lasagne, a Kids’ Meal, Mocha, and Hot Chocolate. The food quality was excellent, and the portions were generous. This café gets extremely busy on Sunday mornings, so we highly recommend calling ahead to make a reservation to avoid long waiting times.”

The organisation by, and communication with Claire was first class and it was very easy to manage the process leading up to the event, including arranging menus and pre-ordering meals. On the day, the service was friendly and efficient and all were very pleased with the quality of the food. Highly recommended.”

“We had lunch at The Dog and Crook today. We had been there before but wanted to try again as under new management. The place has had a facelift, and looks great. Lovely and clean, and a warm welcome. The food was delicious. Chicken Liver Parfait was a real hit. We chatted to the new manager, and fell in love with his beautiful dog Bella. We can recommend The Dog and Crook without hesitation. Eat here, you won’t be disappointed!”

“I have been to masala Lounge around five times over the last year and every time, whether it is Indian or Thai, has been really high quality. I went yesterday evening and I think it’s the best chicken curry I’ve ever had. I liked it so much I’m tempted to go back and have another one. The staff are very friendly always happy to see you. “Easily the best afternoon tea in Hampshire. Went with a friend for the themed afternoon tea. We both had the vegan version and it was stunning, both in presentation and taste! What was especially nice to see is that rather than the vegan option being different, it was the same food/ presentation as main tea, not a different substitute. The cactus macaroons in chocolate 'soil' were wonderful!”

The ambiance inside the restaurant was superb, even very cosy coal fires. And a bonus for me is they are dog friendly too. Last but not least the view of the "lake" was very much to my liking. If I were to visit the area again I would definitely seek to dine there again, my compliments to the chef!”

“Took my elderly Uncle and friends to have lunch. The staff were ready with a ramp for his mobility scooter and were attentive throughout our visit. The roast beef was delicious and pudding to die for. Compared to London prices (where I live) this was a very reasonably priced visit. Go give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!”
