Excellent food, best curry we have ever had. We have visited Sir John Barleycorn several times and we would not eat a curry anywhere else but here. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Chef will sometimes visit every table to say hello, he is a caring man and wants you to have a good experience. We have booked for Christmas day to have traditional Christmas meal and we cannot wait. The food is worth every penny and more. Very happy customer's.

The fish and chips dish was amazing, the servers are incredibly nice and the atmosphere is very nice and calming. It was my first fish and chips ever, they knocked it out of the park! Would recommend if you’re in the area!!

Absoloutly amazing service! Very friendly and helpful. The food was incredible, myself and my partner tried a few different dishes from the Indian menu. All freshly cooked, beautiful flavours. Best curry I've eaten. Cannot wait to return. Highly recommend.

Excellent service. Clean, large modern looking pub on the inside and stunning country style looking on the outside. A drink selection with 3 ales I think there were. There was a British standard pub menu with kids option but also a very good Authentic Indian menu too. The best Indian I have had in years actually. I recommend the Goan Cod Curry. The rice is cooked perfectly too. Naan bread was also the best i have ever had too. Clean toilets. Family friendly. Very friendly service. Dog friendly too. Reasonably priced with good portion size too. Really worth the trip out there. I will be going back despite it being a 55 minute drive. It was quiet but then it was only 4pm so between rush periods - means you get an excellent service from the staff.

Beautiful thatched roof pub/restaurant, essentially serving Indian dishes. We were a party of 56 people, on a daytrip to the New Forest. We had booked one of the 2 restaurant room and the whole experience has been very positive. Everyone enjoyed their meal and an exceptionally efficient and courteous staff. The owner, who seems to be also the chef is extremely helpful and pleasant. I am more than happy to recommend the place.

Sir John Barleycorn has recently been taken over by a new owner and is consequently under new management. We had lunch there yesterday, the food is really lovely, service was amazing and because it was Father’s Day dad got a special gift which was a really nice touch. it was good fresh wholesome food and we each enjoyed three courses. All in all it was a very pleasant lunch experience and we will, without a doubt be going back there soon. This is an update we have been back, if you like really good India food, go. I had butter chicken that was absolutely delicious. See photos.

Meet a friend for lunch at this New Forest pub handily near the M27 for gatherings and close to the common for a nice country walk. There are 2 chefs, one from India and the other Nepalese and the food is excellent. My friend is from India and she said it was very authentic. We had a selection of small plates and sides, everyone a savoury gem. Not pictured was desert which we had for afternoon tea after a walk: a lovely light sticky toffee pudding and an amazingly lightly seasoned malai kulfi. The pub itself is deceptively large and modernly decorated. There is also a large garden. Top notch food in lovely environment.

We enjoyed our stop off at the Sir John Barleycorn. We arrived off the highway coming back up towards London. The pub has a beautiful thatched roof but the service was great. We were told the pub has recently re-opened and they clearly have done a great job. The decor was really nice and comfortable for regular relaxed dining and the service was helpful, friendly and professional but also very comfortable. I had a great Sunday Roast of Gammon, my wife the tasty Seafood Linguine and my little boy a very nice pasta with sauce. We hope to stop back again whenever we head down to Poole area and wish the business all the best of luck!

Sir John Barleycorn - Cadnam Saturday 26th March Following a trip to Southampton and on out way back to Bournemouth we stopped off at the Sir John Barleycorn. The pub looks magnificent having recently had a new thatch. The welcome was warm from the team and the food and service excellent. We will definitely visit again during the summer to enjoy the beer garden. Many thanks again for an excellent visit. Julian & Amanda
