This was an unacceptable experience. I waited more than 5 hours for test results and additional hours to see a doctor. No clear updates, no realistic timeframes, and a complete lack of organisation. Patients shouldn’t be left waiting this long without communication, especially when already unwell with chest pain
My wife had a spected clot on her lung , and they treated her very quickly. We were there 4 hours, but they were very quick and carried out lots of different tests . Overall great service thank you for NHS and all the hard working staff.
My wife and I were in there on a really busy Sunday night but despite how busy they were the team were really professional. I would especially like to call out the care given by the nurse from South Africa who took bloods. She had such a nice bedside manner and really helped to put my wife at ease. Thank you to all who were working tonight.
Hospitals are a terrifying place to be however Southampton Hospital have given my wife a completely clean bill of health this year after several health concerns. All of the staff that my wife and I came into contact with were the utmost professional and we could really tell that they knew their stuff. Hospital always seems super clean and tidy too. Staff are attentive and have excellent bedside manner. Reception / welcome desk staff are super knowledgeable and really happy to help you out.
Exceptional care. Thank you UHS I was in for 16 nights. I was in A&E, resus, TAU, HASU, F4 and F8. I was admitted with a dislocation and 2 fractures of Tibia and Fibula. Ambulance arrived in 15 minutes. I had X-rays within 25 minutes of arriving- then straight into resus for a manipulation under sedation to relocate my foot and ankle. Cast fitted. Exceptional and highly professional care. Then on to TAU for 2 nights. Excellent nursing staff. I was moved to a stroke unit as an outlier patient as I then needed an operation to fit plates/screws and had to wait for the swelling to reduce. So I was in HASU for 5 days. The nursing staff here were incredible! Such attention to detail and compassion shown. 5/5. Then I was relocated to the stroke rehab after two op cancellations due to emergencies coming in. (This is why my stay became so long but I didn’t want to go home until my operation was done.)!3rd time lucky. Operation after 10 days in hospital. Then I recuperated in Orthopaedics. Again wonderful nursing staff- who have to put up with some very challenging patients. A very different feel to HASU- busier, and the wards are more packed in- but the physios were very efficient. Considering this is the NHS-it was 5* care. Food perhaps 3/5!!
The staff at the a&e where really great. They put up with a lot of patient abuse, and that's really not fair. I was in and out in 4 hrs, including X-rays and prescriptions on January 1st. Please be considerate towards the staff, talking down to them and treating them poorly is not ok.
My son was taken to A&E with breathing problems. We would like to thank all the staff for the amazing treatment he received and the courtesy shown to him. The Doctor took time to thoroughly investigate a problem, which was causing him real concern. Thank you so much.
I was extremely ill (with tonsillitis/mono) and went to multiple different places to try and get help and every place said “no it’s just a cold”. finally at the a&e they listened to me and saw that i had tonsillitis, didn’t hesitate about giving antibiotics, took blood to test for mono, just such amazing care!! and only had to wait a max of 10 minutes before seeing someone!! I am also not from the UK and they were very understanding about my situations and walked me through everything!!
