Do NOT use this hotel if you have a dog. I really wanted to love this hotel as I was having a couple of days break to help me recover from long COVID. Before I mention the things that prevented me from loving it I must explain that the staff were kind, well trained and thoughtful I had no problems with them whatsoever. The problems started with the research. I researched dog friendly hotels in the area and Breadsall appeared perfect, this was reinforced when I made my booking and was advised I could pay extra for a doggy package. I did check with the booking agent that there would be dog friendly areas in the hotel ( not the restaurant obviously) I was assured there would be plenty of areas we could sit and have a drink/coffee with our very well behaved dog. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the reception I was told my dog was only allowed in our bedroom, therefore meals and drinks would need to take place there however, we were free to go for walks outside. Feeling utterly unwelcome and somewhat mislead I started to cry (this has never happened before anywhere). The receptionist having empathy spoke to the manager who agreed we could use the tiny lounge off the hallway. I must reiterate the staff tried really hard to make us welcome, but the hotels policies made us feel so unwelcome and not at all valued as a customer.

Very nice hotel. The receptionist (and staff more generally) were very friendly and welcoming. The bar / restaurant / breakfast were great. The pool / gym were well sized and clean - the gym was well equipped and had a cardio side and a weights side. The bedroom was ok sized and in good condition. We received a welcome fruit bowl as a welcome gift (titanium member). There was plenty of parking (didn’t see any EV charging stations). We used the driving range for the kids (clubs provided). There was not an executive lounge / club lounge like you get at some Delta’s (e.g. Heathrow), but not a big issue as the bar was reasonably priced (the restaurant, as expected, was more expensive - but not unreasonable (e.g. burger was about £19). [As a note if the hotel read this: a club lounge with a few papers and a tea / coffee machine with a few biscuits (even with no food (like some of the IHG CP do)) would really add to this hotel, especially for their platinum members upwards.] The grounds of the hotel were nice and walkable. I would stay here again and would recommend it from my last visit.

The hotel and gardens were lovely. There were lots of things to do e.g swim, golf and walk. There was even a free hot chocolate station for kids! The rooms were a good size and were very clean. The restaurant and bar both had great food and drink service. The restaurant had lots of food choices, all of which were reasonably priced. Our waiter (Tom) was very friendly and efficient. Overall I was very happy with the hotel.

A fabulous hotel with two golf courses. There is an imposing entrance as you approach Breadsall Priory. The main hotel is surrounded by the Priory golf course. It's a testing, undulating course in a mature parkland setting, which was in excellent condition. We couldn't play the Moorlands course due to heavy overnight rain, which closed both courses on our second day. The hotel was impressive too, although it's a bit of a maze finding your room. You can get to your room without leaving the building, but the rooms are an extension of the original building, so there are lots of twists & turns & up & down stairs. My only gripe with the room was the bathroom. After having a shower, there was a pool of water by the side of the bath as the showerscreen didn't seal against it. When I mentioned it to members of our group, they'd had the same problem. Everyone commented on how good the food was. The restaurant was big enough to give everyone space without drowning out people who wanted a quiet evening. Breakfast was a buffet style with coffee & tea machines. Staff were friendly & helpful. There is also a swimming pool & spa facilities.

– Beautiful Setting, Wonderful Staff, but Rooms Need Some TLC We recently stayed at Breadsall Priory, in Room 370, and while the hotel itself is set in a stunning location, the experience was a bit mixed. On arrival, our room was really cold, and it took quite a while to warm up. The lovely Tanya came to help, but unfortunately couldn’t get the heating working — she very kindly brought us two portable heaters, which was much appreciated. The view from the room was beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset, though it was often spoiled by condensation on the windows. Sadly, the toilet only flushed intermittently, and we often returned to find an unpleasant smell and a few flies, likely from the bathroom plugholes. The following morning, we discovered that the fridge wasn’t working, and everything we’d stored in it had perished. After a day out in a nearby village, we returned to find more flies and several ladybirds in the room — we did our best to remove them, but they seemed to keep coming back through gaps in the windows. Despite the room issues, the staff were absolutely amazing, especially Jamie , Kimberley and Charlotte, who went above and beyond to help and were a real credit to the hotel. The food was fantastic — both the inclusive and à la carte menus were excellent. The grounds and scenery are truly lovely, and once you get your bearings, the walks around the property aren’t too bad at all. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff and great food, but it’s in need of some TLC and investment to match the prices being charged. It was very busy during our stay, so a room change wasn’t possible, but hopefully, these maintenance issues can be addressed soon — because Breadsall Priory really does have so much potential.

Family weekend, with a mobility restricted adult and a picky teenager. The welcome was warm and professional- we needed a room that was easy to get to with a person of limited mobility and our requirements had been understood and addressed. The sprawling site was a little off putting but the hotel thoughtfully arranged a golf buggy (and driver) to help ferry the less mobile member of the group around and were responsive when asked at 10 mins notice when we needed to get around. The staff are friendly and engaging, the food is very nice and the menu was varied. The pool is a nice size and well maintained with decent changing rooms and pleasant staff. Wifi is fine and easy to access. None of us are golfers , but the golfers seemed happy enough... so if that's your thing I'd say go for it. Special mention to Charlotte who was an absolute gem!

We booked a spa day overall it was a nice relaxed day. We had the inclusive breakfast buffet and the lunch. We had treatments booked together, the full body massage was great. The gym and wet areas were good unfortunately the hot tub went out of order while we were there so we were not able to use it for long. The atmosphere and history of the building was really nice and a great experience.

A group of eight of us, stayed for two nights with golf, as a 70th birthday treat for a colleague. On arrival we gathered in the Tempo bar for coffees mid afternoon, we asked which food was available, only to be told that there would not be any food available until 6.00 pm, then that would be in the main restaurant. Our evening meal was great and the staff were pleasant, after the meal we retired to the bar area, probably about 9.00 pm. When we tried to order drinks, there was nobody in sight, not in the bar area or restaurant. After about ten minutes, another guest approached us and said that she wanted to pay her bill, but couldn't find a member of staff either. We banged on the kitchen door and a member of staff appeared, with an apology I might add, At 10.15 the barmaid, came to tell us that it was last orders and that they would now stop serving as the bar was closing. I explained that the closing time was stated as being 11.00 pm, so why were they now closing the bar? I was told that she had been instructed by the duty manager to close the bar, we asked to speak to her for an explanation, however she was too busy apparently. She would also not disclose the duty managers name, as she said 'she wasn't allowed to'. As it was last orders, I asked for four drinks. She replied that she could not serve four drinks to one person, even though it was a round for four people.....unbelievable! We were not drunk or rowdy either as we are all quite old and just wanted to celebrate a friends birthday. After much discussion we were served our drinks, then going to bed early. The next day after golf, we again went into the Tempo bar, this time a snack menu was on show, when we tried to order food, the staff informed us that, it seems only toasties were available, as nobody had been trained to cook the chips or the pizzas, even though they were on the menu board. On a plus note the staff were very helpful and did what they could, it seems that the problems lie elsewhere with this business.
