Not very good, I booked through company portal three night stay for work related reasons which specifically included breakfast. I was told breakfast wasn't included due an error between the company that does the bookings and the hotel. If I wanted breakfast it would have been an extra £15. However breakfast wasn't getting served till after 9!! Most hotels serve breakfast from 6:30 7 in the morning. People have to go to work!!. Hotel was very run down and poorly kept with sticky tapes holding down the carpets in places. Room door wasn't locking safely. All and all bad experience.

Extremely Disrespectful Receptionist and Poor Guest Welfare Practices I’m deeply disappointed by the treatment I received from the receptionist at this hotel. I called to check on a friend who had stayed there the night before. I had personally dropped her off at the hotel, ensuring she was safe, as she had been drinking and I wanted to make sure she got to her room safely. The next day, we hadn’t heard from her, so I called the hotel out of concern. While I fully understand and respect data privacy laws (I work in the field myself), my intention was never to obtain any confidential information. I already had all of my friend's details, and was simply asking the hotel to confirm if she was okay or to pass along a message to contact us. Instead of handling the situation with empathy or professionalism, the receptionist interrupted me repeatedly, shouting “data privacy!” over and over before abruptly hanging up on me. This behavior was not only rude but completely uncalled for. A polite explanation or a basic assurance that they would try to get a message to the guest would have been enough. Hotels should prioritize guest welfare and show basic decency to those expressing genuine concern. What I experienced was shocking, unprofessional, and frankly unacceptable. I hope the hotel takes a serious look at how their front desk staff handles sensitive situations like this in the future.

I love this hotel. They have lovely furniture in the lounge and lots of old curios. The food in the adjoining restaurant is amazing and all of the staff are lovely and welcoming. Also in the restaurant there are tons of black and white photos on the wall of old actors and actresses. It's like a quiz, trying to name them all!

Our 2nd stay. A lovely, affordable place to stay, less than 10 mins walk from the city. The full English breakfast was super, with locally sourced sausages. The owners respond immediately to meet any needs and are the nicest hotel owners I've met.

Three night stay. Clean, quiet and comfy. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Our second stay, won't be the last.

Had to push to be moved into another room as hardly any heating in room, drafty shutters, no curtains. Staff member who changed her mind having promised better warm room changed her mind and put us in another room that was cold and drafty, promised us another little heater but nothing arrived and went off duty. I believe she could have been more accommodating but was not budging, the other member of staff was v helpful but could not do anything. The next day I had to complain again as room had no heating when we returned from our day trip.

I booked here after needing somewhere in Derby close to the town centre on a main arterial route served by public transport. The building and interior are grand, quirky and full of interesting furnishings. Staff are very friendly and the room I stayed in was well equipped clean and tidy. The four poster bed was a surprising feature and very comfortable. After plans changed I booked again for more nights in the same week. Initially I was placed in a different room, at the far end of the hotel. Unfortunately this didn't have a wifi connection which could have proved a problem for the three nights stay. However they were more than happy to switch me back to my original room, which I then locked myself out of by accident, making it an interesting first impression for all! The food options in the evening were limited at the time of my stay due to staff absence but on the Sunday evening I sampled the wonderful pizza provider situated on the premises and the bar is very reasonably priced. I sampled breakfast one of the mornings (additional £9.50) which was incredible quality. The bacon was thick and gorgeous, the eggs perfect, the full English in full was top notch. Toast, cereals and juice was also provided with a pot of tea but I couldn't finish it all! I didn't sample any other food or facilities whilst staying, worth noting there is a pub quiz on a Thursday evening (all but 1 table in the bar was reserved by 6pm) and they do show live sports when on (ie premier league over the weekend) They offer very competitive room rates, in a great location for a 15 minute walk into Derby city centre. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff I had the pleasure of dealing with. I would recommend 100% and love to have the opportunity to return.

Lovely hotel, short walk to the centre of town. Free parking behind so felt my car was secure. Lovely traditional hotel with a great pub attached (good food and drinks). I stayed on a Friday night and went to be reasonably early and did not hear any noise at all from my room so the best of both worlds it seems. Stayed in room 14, good size double room, REALLY comfy bed - firm but not too firm - slept like a log! The shower is a little small (fine for me but a larger lad may find it a bit of a squeeze) but the shower was hot with great water pressure. Opted for breakfast which was a GOOD idea, big and tasty full English served with juice, tea & coffee and a selection of cereal by friendly staff. Would recommend.
