Yesterday, 27th Dec at 2.45 am, i arrived in A&E unwell, shattered, and with a severe abdominal pain. A very helpful receptionist greeted me. I was seen within the hour and the process of waiting for a doctor was explained. Pain killers were administered. It was a busy day immediately after Christmas. At c 9AM I was called through, had further usual tests, and the Doctor examined me, provided further pain relief. As I waited for a scan I was seen frequently by nurses ensuring I was comfortable, and again checked by the Doctor. The scan was undertaken swiftly and very professionally. They were clearly very busy. Afterwards the Consultant and Doctor visited me and advised I had a gallstone and should consult with my GP, at home, 400 miles south. Antibiotics, pain killers and advice on alleviating the cause of pain was given, with a discharge paper for my GP. A lot of cogs were involved in this very well oiled machine, that functioned well and allowed me to return home free of the pain and discomfort well advised as to how I should proceed. Thank you to all involved in A&E on a night you would far rather have been at home, for an excellent service. I am so very grand apologise i can't recall your names.. John Lea

How Ill do you have to be to go to A & E department? When I have been before I have had really good treatment. Last night when I ended up there after exhausting the other options - GP who referred to pharmacy, they referenced to dentist and dentist won't do anything other than a check up as it is a first visit to them, a visit to the out of hours surgery following a 111 call. Fast forward, a bad reaction to pills supplied by the out of hours and 2 more calls to 111, feeling really ill with racing heart, breathing difficulties, fever and eventually vomiting and diarrhoea at A & E. Whilst you can understand the frustration of staff at people going to the department when it isn't warranted the last thing you need is a really angry nurse going at you because a halter monitor test comes back with the same result from an earlier test for a completely unrelated matter a long time prior. Presumably staff know the ins and outs of protocols to be in A & E but the general public may not. The last thing you need when you are feeling really ill is for someone to judge you for how you are feeling, assume that it's not that bad or that you are faking it and to treat you like you are stupid for coming in to the department at all. Of course you are not going to go there unless you think it absolutely necessary and its a shame to write this when mostly I have had very good treatment here in the past

My visit on 1/12/25 to the rather ominously titled Ward 101 was a revelation in health care. In the three hours I was there, I received a thorough investigation of all relevant features of my condition, delivered with friendliness, efficiency and skill. Communication was highly expert - they listened carefully to me, and explained their own views with clarity and completeness. Everyone, from cleaner to consultant, showed a commitment to the highest of health care values. Congratulations and many thanks to all.

Good place if you can get past the fob off masters at A&E. Check blood pressure and pulse and send you home if numbers are normal even tho you’ve dislocated your jaw which won’t affect those numbers. Turns out I had dislocated my jaw and nurse Erin treated me like I was less than nothing. Didn’t want to listen, just blamed a chronic condition I had even tho this was totally different to my chronic condition. Was overheard calling me names in another room and is lucky I never lashed out. Demanded to see a doctor and still wouldn’t budge. No examination of my jaw at all to see how bad it was. She reluctantly sent me to ward 210 the next day which was still the wrong place. Had to visit my GP to get a referral to max fax two weeks later and it was really bad. I’ve had to get an MRI and all this was missed because Erin was stubborn and arrogant. Staff seem miffed you’ve gone to A&E even if 111 has sent you there and don’t send you to G Med or Minor Injuries. Not my fault the admin is flawed. Never felt like such a burden in my life. I will never be happy until posers like her who want the status and credit of a nurse but don’t do the work of a nurse are out!

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has consistently received praise for its dedicated and compassionate staff. Many patients have noted how incredibly helpful and polite the medical professionals are. The team works hard to make patients feel at ease, ensuring that every individual is treated with care and respect. The staff's genuine efforts to provide comfort, alongside their commitment to delivering the best possible care, contribute to a positive experience for those seeking treatment. It's clear that the focus is on both healing and supporting the well-being of patients in every way they can.

UK has to be the most useless place of all times when it comes to medical help. Only help when it’s suitable or easy enough for them, let’s not forget paracetamol is the answer for every illness known to mankind. Please go back to school and educate yourself before trying to β€œ help β€œ others

I honestly cannot thank ARI enough for their professionalism, kindness, cleanliness, consideration, the ability to listen. And this doesn't go towards one particular staff member but to all the nurses, doctors, porters and anyone else I had interactions with.

I sat in the hospital at the reception for more than 10 hours, there was a large and deep cut. Three people with alcohol poisoning were brought before me and they were taken first! If I had been accepted on time, I am sure there is no such big scar. There is no organization at all! In my concept, a doctor should see a patient no longer than after 30-60 minutes, and not after 12 hours!

Abysmal. Been twice times over the years and each time it has been shambolic. Taxpayers pay a fortune for this so-called service. Each time the wait was 10.5 hrs and 9 hours for someone who had cracked their head and lost consciousness and blood. Yet they prioritise drunks. They say the nurse will come over and stick the wound in 5 mins. 2 hours later, they get round to it. Each time they claim short-staffed, yet they keep taking tax-payers money. But they just give pay rises to existing doctors and nurses instead of getting more people. So disorganised, and yet there is no replacement service even if you go private (they won't cover A&E). Of course, if we were an MP or someone in the public eye, we'd get much better service. If this place was private, it would have gone bust long ago
