Never again. Okay, I rarely give bad reviews, especially to local businesses; I'd rather say nothing at all. But I decided to give Kings Cattery 24 hours to call me or at least email to apologise for what happened yesterday. But they never bothered so here we are. We'd never used them before. We needed to board our two cats and unfortunately, our usual catteries had no availability We found Kings online, the reviews looked good, they had availability, so we booked them. Anyway, when we dropped them off, there's a gate next to the entrance to the cattery building. At the gate were two dogs, a terrier and a rather meaty looking dog, a Shar Pei I think. Both were barking furiously at us and the cats as we waited for the door to be opened. It took several minutes for one of the staff to get to the door, during which time, the two dogs were going nuts at us. Really not a great start, especially for our cats. When we eventually got inside, the lady who checked us in apologised and said the owner usually takes the dogs in during cattery opening hours and didn't know why she hadn't this time. Not a great start, but these things happen. Anyway, the cats were only in for a couple of days. The cattery itself is less than stellar. A huge place, disinterested staff, fairly lax procedures and the worst part was the pens don't have any access to the outdoors at all. But it was only for the weekend so we left and had already decided this would be a one off. But it's what happened when we collected them which was absolutely shocking. We were sat in the car waiting for them to open and the dogs were there again. This time, we saw the owner head to the office and the dogs followed her in. Great we thought. Anyway, in we went, paid the bill and collected our cats. Absolutely fine. As we got towards the car, all of a sudden, from nowhere, the Shar Pei came running at us. I don't know how he got out, whether it jumped the gate or not, I have no idea. It was barking furiously and we had no idea if it was going after us or our cats. My wife and I both had a carrier each and just tried to shield the cats (both of whom have terrible anxiety being in their boxes at the best of times), hoping the dog wasn't going to attack or bite one or both of us. It was absolutely terrifying, the dog (obviously acting as a guard dog) was seething and the owner showed little urgency in coming out to get the dog under control, and when she did, the dog paid no attention to her. Eventually she managed to get it away. I told her that it was appalling and simply not good enough and she did make a couple of rather half-hearted apologies. We just wanted to get our cats into the safety of the car though and get away. I was sure she'd be in touch later to speak to us about the incident, but no. When we got in the car, we were in shock. We're both very confident with dogs but this was genuinely a very scary incident for us and the cats. We were still shaking by the time we got home. Fortunately, the cats were fine. I could never imagine encountering something like this when boarding our cats. Dogs like that have absolutely no business being near a cattery, or indeed any business that serves the public. We generally use two other catteries and when compared to Kings, they're both in a different league when it comes to professionalism, their operational standards and quality of accommodation. We'll certainly never go near Kings ever again. A truly dreadful experience from start to finish.

never leave your car for more than 20 days. Otherwise they will leave you forever. The staff are all very kind and caring, however at the end of the day, your cat is attached to you not the staff.

I have left my cat here for many years and it is his perfect holiday home when I go away! Sharon and the staff are kind and take great care of all their temporary residents. My cat is nearly 16 now and will be staying at his 'home from home' very happily. I can't praise them enough!

Our cat has boarded at Kings on a few occasions now and I cannot fault the service. He is clearly very relaxed and confident in the environment. I feel the rates are very reasonable and the booking system is very convenient to use.

My boys have not been in a cattery since pre - covid when they were kittens, I was unsure how they would find the lack of freedom and they did find it difficult to settle . Emma, Sharon and the team went above and beyond to help them settle especially in the heat, feeding them cat ice lollipops and setting up air conditioning units / fans to cool them down . I highly recommend Kings Cattery, and had real peace of mind while I enjoyed my holiday!! Thank you X

We hadn't placed our current cats in a cattery although had used Kings in the past. Our 2 monsters stayed 8 nights. Staff fell in love with our younger kitten. Premises very clean, all catalog looked like they were well looked after, staff helpful and friendly. Will certainly use again

Great cattery. Two of my cats have stayed there - my first went there for years, then got ill when he was older and Kings Cattery were wonderful, giving him comfort and his medication when we had to go away. My second cat still goes there for his holidays - I just picked him up today and he was sprawled out relaxing, totally chilled! It’s nice to know he’s going to somewhere he’s happy and comfortable. The staff are amazing - you can tell they genuinely care about the cats and know what they’re doing!
