   Visited for lunch with a friend and we each had a sandwich - they were lovely and my only constructive critique would be to chuck a bit of foliage on the plate to break up the sea of (delicious) beige. Looking at the menu prior to ordering, there were some lovely vegetarian options but felt that they lacked the same level of thought that went into the meat options - I would love to see some more creativity here. Great drink selection, lovely atmosphere and the bar staff were super friendly and chatty, which really stood out and elevated the whole visit.

   Went for Sunday lunch pork chewey veg cold meal disaster. I've always thought it was a good restaurant i certainly won't ever consider having Sunday lunch here again absolute waste of money we left majority of meal went in today Sunday 5th October at approx 2pm . Couldn't tell people value for money as I feel robbed.

   Was expecting much from this place on first visit, but underwhelmed. Service was surly and unwelcoming. Food took ages, and my lasagne had been heated for so long the sauce was burnt around the edges and to the dish. The beer was the worst I'd drank in Hull (Good Beer Guide, how?). Pricy food too.

   My nephew introduced me to this pub on the 21st December. I loved it! It was a cold frosty evening and we managed to find a table although the place was crowded. It was warm and welcoming. Fab, helpful and friendly staff with a relaxing atmosphere. The smoking area out back is one of the best I've seen and some of the seating alcoves are actually heated. We went there again last night but last orders were called at 21:45. Oh well, it was Christmas Eve... Recommended.

   Booked the function room, for a group of 25, ordered the food in advance. Was able to change anything we needed too great options for allergies and veg/vegan. Staff have been lovely, attend to us and the full pub with ease. Starters came out in a timely manner, mains took a bit longer but nothing unreasonable for our groups size, manager apologised profusely which was completely unnessiary. It was delightful and we will be back for certain

   Friendly service from beginning to the end and from all the staff including the manager. Family friendly place as we were 6 adults and a toddler. Decent lunch menu and we ordered omelette (£7.25) and cod fish cakes (£7.95). Big portion at reasonable price. Tasted great. Highly recommended on Newland Avenue.
