“Had a fantastic meal here tonight for my wife's birthday. She got her hollumi fix with a generous portion on her salad, I had the chicken stroganoff which was excellent. The cocktail was lovely too. Service was spot on, attentive and friendly. All in all a great night out with great food. We will be back!”

“Visited on a Saturday night for a joint birthday meal for my wife and her brother. A deposit was needed in advance as it was a large table but this was taken off the bill. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious as usual. We had starters and mains and then took our own birthday cakes which the staff were more than happy to prepare and light the candles before bringing over to us. They also provided plates and knives for us to eat the cake.”

“Booked a table here for a birthday meal. Menu varied with something for everybody. Average price is around £15 but meals coming out of the kitchen were massive and could easily feed 2 people. We opted for the Beef Stew and Dumplings and the King Prawn Creamy Pasta. Both were delicious and very very filling. There were desserts available but we had nowhere to put them! Wine is a sensible £14 a bottle. Venue itself was warm and clean and modern. When we finished our meal we took our drinks into the very comfortable Lounge. Highly recommended and we will become more frequent visitors.”

“Went in to watch the world cup final, was presented with a table which was covered in great goodies, for example we got some novelty glasses, an England wig. Service was excellent, considering how full the place was, we didn't wait long for a drink at all, 100% suggest you visit this pub. Also, I donated a replica world cup trophy to the pub, the owner was so appreciative that he bought as a bacon butty each and a drink each! Fantastic gesture!”

“My wife and I found ourselves hungry and tired from walking around the marina area which is a revelation to see it so much changed. (I am 81 tears old and was born in the city of Hull and know a lot about the place). We called in at the hotel to see if we could get a light lunch and were greeted warmly and our dog was welcomed as well. The meal was superb and the pizza was by far the best I had ever been served anywhere. The staff were helpful and the place was warm and clean. We were served by a guy called Adam. “I have been into Humber Dock today (06/06/2025), I came in for a bite to eat and a pint. I decided I’ll play it safe and order a cheese burger and chips. Words simply cannot comprehend the fantastic quality of the burger; the freshness, the taste, the presentation and the time and care that went into assembling this simply stupendous quality meal…. I even enjoyed the onions, and I’m the polar opposite of an advocate for onions. I would highly recommend any burger lovers to come to this venue, and try it out. I paid £14.95, I would have paid £30. Satisfied is an understatement. Bar staff were also lovely and welcoming. The music was at a perfect level. Brilliant venue, surprised it wasn’t busier than what it was. Will be returning in the near future and bringing a crowd with me so they can understand how good the food was. Hats off to the chef.”

“Lovely pub with a delightful decor. Absolutely incredible choice of beer and snacks. You can roll a dice and get a surprise choice of drink - I got buckfast - very sweet and quite strong. Loved the little chippies and overall vibe.”

“Food was delicious, chilli con carne had a bit of heat and very filling. Only slight downside was a very rowdy group on a pub crawl, but one of the bar staff apologised and said they would not be staying long. Otherwise, a very cosy pub, great food and atmosphere”

“Visited for lunch with a friend and we each had a sandwich - they were lovely and my only constructive critique would be to chuck a bit of foliage on the plate to break up the sea of (delicious) beige. Looking at the menu prior to ordering, there were some lovely vegetarian options but felt that they lacked the same level of thought that went into the meat options - I would love to see some more creativity here. Great drink selection, lovely atmosphere and the bar staff were super friendly and chatty, which really stood out and elevated the whole visit.”

“I had a phenomenal experience here last week! Popped in for brunch on a Sunday and the service was truly amazing. A lovely guy called Alfie looked after us. I was enquiring about any vegan options and Alfie was so patient and kind, he went out of his way to arrange for the vegetarian breakfast to be made vegan. I asked if it was possible to turn the music down upstairs as I have hearing loss and expected it to be a bit of a hassle, Alfie was an angel and acted like it was no big deal at all and very quickly resolved this. Alfie was just the most friendly, sweet and helpful guy, nothing was too much trouble for him to help us with, and he came across as a really genuine person that takes the time to treat all customers like they're friends, he created such a welcoming vibe and I felt really at ease even though I'm a bit awkward with my hearing! It was the best service I've had in a long time, and if Alfie isn't a manager he definitely deserves a raise, he made us want to come back again and again. The only slight suggestion I have, separate to anything practical, is for the menu to outline vegan options. I used to come in many years ago and they always had vegan options noted on the menu. There wasn't anything stated as vegan on the menu and the veggie breakfast had to be modified rather than being able to order a vegan breakfast. If I hadn't been planning to meet my friend there I might have been put off and assumed vegans weren't really provided for. It would go a long way just having a few options on the menu or noting what is vegan. Simple stuff like a vegan fry up (hash browns, beans, tomatoes, toast with vegan margarine, mushrooms, vegan sausages), avocado on toast, beans on toast. Regardless, we'd definitely be back as it was the best service we've had in Hull! Thanks Alfie. You're a legend.”

“Three of us booked for the Christmas dinner and Bingo on 18 th Dec . It was due to start 6,30 but we arrived around an hour earlier to have a drink . It was not a problem at all , we got seated by Rosie straight away . Heads up to everyone who worked very hard for us all to have a fabulous time . I love gammon , so Ben carved up the gammon for me and there was a choice of sprouts parsnips, roast potatoes ,carrots ,peas and mash .Oh and don't forget the delicious Yorkies all smothered in lovely gravy . I must say everyone worked very hard including Ellie, Paige ,Alex , Rosie ,Ben ... So sorry if I missed anyone out ! Bingo was great fun in between the main course and the lovely Xmas Pud for dessert. Would recommend to anyone as the best carvery and staff in Hull. “Very nice food. Quite long waiting time considering we didn’t order anything too exciting but it was fairly busy. Chairs very uncomfortable but atmosphere was nice and food was great! Staff really polite and present but without hovering around which we really appreciated. Definitely will be back, trying to get a booth this time.”

“Party of four, we had a chicken burger, beef brisket, pizza, and the meat platter, with a side of loaded fries and nachos. Everything was well cooked, the brisket just fell apart in your mouth the burnt ends melted, the chicken burger was crispy and full of flavour. The pizza was nice and thin, if a little burnt on the edges, but it was still great. Staff were good, and in a surprising change, they didn't keep coming to the table disrupting you while eating. Although it was difficult to get their attention when we wanted drinks. It was quiet when we visited but it had a nice chilled atmosphere, the cost was about £35 a person with drinks which we don't think is bad for the food quality. We will definitely be revisiting in the future.”

“Great local Reggae Rum bar & restaurant. Serving great delicious jerk Carribbean dishes . Every plate a mouth watering delight . Great selection of Beers wines and fab cocktail menu. Mixed in a funky vibrant setting on Newland Avenue. A must if you're in the area.”
