Atrocious customer service. Called into St Stephens store this afternoon chose 2 pairs of trousers and a dress to try on. Changing rooms closed off (5:20), I asked the young assistant why closed "just because they are" she said. I asked but why were they closed. The reply "we're closing soon and that means we have to put all the clothes away" and just walked off. With that another member of staff appeared and I asked what time did the store close " 6 o clock" she replied I asked her why the changing room was closed, she apologised and opened them up.After trying on the trousers I decided to buy them. Took them to the till where the first assistant was behind the counter, she saw me, rang her bell and bobbed down. Second assistant came to serve me and was nothing but rude and dismissive. At no point had I been impolite or rude to either of them. This is customer service at it's very worst. Incidentally 2 further customers followed me into the changing room and both made purchases. Potentially at the very least the company would have lost 3 customers. I normally shop at the Kingswood branch were the staff are very friendly and always helpful

I donβt normally leave reviews for high street retail stores, as I feel they often get lost in the shuffle of large corporations. However, this review is a personal shout-out to one staff member who went above and beyond... Ethan! I hadnβt worn a suit in over five years and didnβt even own one that fit me. With a recent career change and upcoming interviews, I needed to look sharp and feel confident. From the moment I explained my situation, Ethan provided exceptional service. He took detailed measurements (chest, neck, waist), guided me through different fits to see what suited me best, and was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. My partner was also impressed by his attentiveness and natural rapport. When the store didnβt have the right style or colour in stock, he helped me navigate the online options and placed an order that matched my sizing perfectly. Despite multitasking, serving other customers, dressing mannequins, and working the tills he still gave me a solid 30 minutes of focused attention whilst keeping efficiency. I left spending Β£300 and plan to return over the next two months to purchase two more suits in different colours, each likely in the Β£200βΒ£300 range. Ethan made me feel like I was being fitted on Savile Row, not just shopping at NEXT in Hull. His level of service is far above what you typically expect in a high street store. If I were running a customer-facing business, Iβd hire him on the spot. That said, I have to mention a contrasting experience. While Ethan was helping me, another staff member, Jane, repeatedly interrupted him by shouting across the store to ask product questions. It was disruptive, especially as he was in the middle of processing an online order for me. It affected the flow of service not only for me but for other customers too. Ironically, Jane failed to close a sale on a product the customer was interested in, only for Ethan to step in afterward, offer insightful advice, and successfully complete the sale before the customer left. When I later went to the till to buy a tie and shoes, Jane served me. Unfortunately, her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming. No greeting, no please or thank you, and an error in handling payment which she addressed rudely rather than politely. It stood in stark contrast to the outstanding experience I had just had with Ethan. While I understand that retail can be demanding and thankless at times, professionalism and basic courtesy should still be expected. Ethanβs exemplary conduct made these lapses by others more noticeable. To the store manager: Ethan is a true asset. I would strongly recommend leveraging his skills to help raise the overall standard of customer service in your team. Outstanding! Ethan, if you read this, and you ain't appreciated by the company and treat just like a number. Find a job in a more luxury upper class store, you will fit right in.

One of the chain of Next shops, this store located at the entrance of St Stephenβs Shopping Centre has the expected good range of clothing and accessories etc with some particularly lovely ladies wear at the moment. The store is light, bright and airy with plenty of room to move around the store without bumping into display racks or other shoppers. Thereβs lots of choice for all occasions; I particularly like the Petite section and I also love the summer bags.

Absolutely shocking service! Music is far too loud. No staff available to help! When they are available they act like they can't be bothered. Only one staff member who stands out is Ben on suit department.

Un-believe reviews! No... really! I recognise about 8 staff past and as for the others maybe some present! Awful place to work and Sports Direct style pricing. If you don't remember seeing that discounted top at full price... you probably didn't, it was direct to sale tat kept in the stockroom till it is the early morning sale.
