“I ordered a black blazer from the yours website for a job interview. It arrived very creased and unwearable. My darling husband tried to steam it for me with our iron but burnt a rather large whole on the front of the jacket! So, I ordered a second blazer and paid for next day delivery. This jacket arrived on time but again was very creased. I couldn’t find any dry cleaners open on a weekend, so in desperation visited the Hull store to see if they had the same blazer in store so I could swap it - but unfortunately they didn’t. Then I got talking to a lovely member of staff called Amora and told her what had happened. This lovely lady went out of her way to help me and offered to steam my jacket for me! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate what she did for me and she turned what could have been a negative review of Yours Clothing, into a positive one! Thank you Amora, you are a true star and a massive credit to Yours!”

“Me and my wife have visited the mamas and papas store in hull a fair few times over the past 15’months. We originally bought the occaro travel system in 2023 and we cannot fault it. Does everything you need a pushchair to do! The baby loves it, and we can even use it when we walk the dog! The store manager dealt with us named Matt and he was brilliant. Very thorough, informative and funny/friendly considering we were first time parents we had lots of questions he was kind and patient. Since then we have been back to get a new toddler car seat and we also went to see Matt and he explained everything we needed to know about the car seat safety for our 14month old. We have decided on a cybex car seat that we are thrilled with. The store is super friendly, clean and there is a Lovely atmosphere. Brilliant store all round! Thank you”

“I do love a good charity shop! This is quite a large charity shop very close to Paragon Station and St Stephen’s and just across from the side entrance to the Prospect Centre. It has been there a long time and is well supported by local shoppers. Particularly good for women’s clothing including wedding dresses.”

“I absolutely love this Home Bargains, not just because it has great value items but because the staff are so friendly. I always find myself chatting to the members of staff and they are knowledgeable, helpful and honestly can't do enough for you. On my most recent visit I happened to mention to a member of staff 'Christine' that it was a shame that something I regularly purchase was out of stock that particular day and I said I'd pop back, about 20 minutes later she came and found in the shop to say that she had managed to locate me some that was just about to put out. It honestly made my day, I know it may seem like a small thing but the fact that she took the time to look ( despite me not asking her to) and then coming to search for me was so nice and thoughtful, saving me a trip back. “Just my favourite shop in the whole world, not just this Boyes every one of them. They remind me of growing up and my regular visits to my grandads in Scarborough, we always went in Boyes. Still an old fashioned store which sells material, gardening, sweets and anything in between. Plus they have the best wool for knitting Boyes, my number one shop”

“This Primark in Hull is a good size, much larger than the York branch. It is part of the complex of businesses in Princes Quay shopping centre so is usually pretty busy with a good footfall as it can be entered from the upper floor in addition to street level. This branch is always well stocked and the staff very helpful. I like to browse the section with all of the bedding and kitchen ware; there’s a good choice of lots of things to add style to your home at a bargain price with beautiful cushions, throws and storage options. If you see something in store and like it, my suggestion would be to buy it there and then; come back in a week and it may no longer be available.”

Good quality products, plenty in all areas of the shop, good seasonal products, Reasonable prices,friendly staff and a clean store. Shame about ones of the doors having to stay shut because of shoplifters . I still remember when they had the budgies and an Ice cream machine.”

Member of staff counting customers in/out. Had a HUGE range of face masks and hand sanitizer, as well as antibacterial cleaning products. Includes a Pep & Co section to the rear of the store which stocks male, female and children clothing”

He took detailed measurements (chest, neck, waist), guided me through different fits to see what suited me best, and was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. My partner was also impressed by his attentiveness and natural rapport. When the store didn’t have the right style or colour in stock, he helped me navigate the online options and placed an order that matched my sizing perfectly. Despite multitasking, serving other customers, dressing mannequins, and working the tills he still gave me a solid 30 minutes of focused attention whilst keeping efficiency. I left spending £300 and plan to return over the next two months to purchase two more suits in different colours, each likely in the £200–£300 range. Ethan made me feel like I was being fitted on Savile Row, not just shopping at NEXT in Hull. His level of service is far above what you typically expect in a high street store. If I were running a customer-facing business, I’d hire him on the spot. That said, I have to mention a contrasting experience. While Ethan was helping me, another staff member, Jane, repeatedly interrupted him by shouting across the store to ask product questions. It was disruptive, especially as he was in the middle of processing an online order for me. It affected the flow of service not only for me but for other customers too. Ironically, Jane failed to close a sale on a product the customer was interested in, only for Ethan to step in afterward, offer insightful advice, and successfully complete the sale before the customer left. When I later went to the till to buy a tie and shoes, Jane served me. Unfortunately, her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming. No greeting, no please or thank you, and an error in handling payment which she addressed rudely rather than politely. It stood in stark contrast to the outstanding experience I had just had with Ethan. While I understand that retail can be demanding and thankless at times, professionalism and basic courtesy should still be expected. Ethan’s exemplary conduct made these lapses by others more noticeable. To the store manager: Ethan is a true asset. I would strongly recommend leveraging his skills to help raise the overall standard of customer service in your team. Outstanding! Ethan, if you read this, and you ain't appreciated by the company and treat just like a number. Find a job in a more luxury upper class store, you will fit right in.”
