We have been here several times before when it was Lily's and the Old Teahouse and it was a lovely, informal cafe with great service and food. Today was our 1st visit for breakfast since new management has taken over and we were disappointed. When we arrived, the staff were dressed in black suits like funeral directors. None of the previous, friendly staff seem to still be there. We were taken upstairs but they have made table space where the toilets used to be and we were sat there. It was cold and whenever people came up there was a draught. There were lots of artificial flowers on the wall and ceiling, not sure about that. I am vegetarian and there was no vegetarian or indeed vegan breakfast on the menu, so I had to ask. They said they would have to ask the chef! They said I could have the meat breakfast with vegan sausage. There was also bacon on the meat breakfast so I asked if I could have baked beans instead as a swap which I was told would be OK. The prices have been put up as well. The service was very slow for the food and it wasn't busy. The food was OK when it did arrive but my fried eggs were solid, not runny. I went to the toilets and was shocked to find only one small ladies one, no hand dryer and paper towels were on the floor next to the bin!! I told staff and they said that the towels should have been on the ledge, but this was next to the toilet! My husband told me the gents was the same! I have added two photo of the ladies and one of the gents. We spoke to the staff about this, they were two young girls, who were very pleasant but also admitted that there had been lots of comments that it wasn't as good as it used to be. I said I was shocked about the lack of cooked vegetarian and vegan options and how it was a lot more expensive. When we got the bill I was charged an extra £2 for the beans! I did argue this and it was adjusted. We felt sorry for the staff, especially as it used to be so good. We feel that the management need to review their menu and the ambience.

Absolutely the best afternoon tea we’ve ever had. We also had some tempura prawns and calamari and we couldn’t believe how fresh and delicious it was. It is a bit pricey but in my opinion it is worth every penny. One afternoon tea is enough for two people then you can get a couple of bits on the side, which we did. Since going there last week we’ve been again as we still can’t believe how delicious it was.

Decent tea rooms with a good menu and great-tasting coffee. Staff are quite young so not as attentive as hoped but overall a good breakfast.

I had my first experience of the Old Tea House today. A few members of my family and I visited for my mums birthday. The food was very yummy and service was great. The experience was made especially good for me as I had my one year old with me. I only bring a few snacky bits with me for my one year old as she doesn't eat much yet but a lot of establishments don't like that I bring her own food rather than purchase something from the menu. Today, at the Old Tea House a member of staff saw my daughter, asked how old she was and then offered her a plate of chicken and ham! We delightfully accepted and moments later she was given a big plate of ham, chicken and cheese! She didn't eat much of it and majority ended up on the floor but it was just such a lovely gesture. I was also then told not to worry about cleaning up the floor as 'she's one, it's to be expected. We have a dust pan and brush, don't worry'. This is hands down the best experience I've had eating out since becoming a mum. What a lovely family friendly place! Thank you.

A lovely lunch! Would highly recommend. BBQ chicken toasty with fries and salad £10 ish, and a Welsh rarebit £8.50 ish. Both reasonable value and very tasty! They even had BBQ sauce for my chips!

Came to this lovely cafe today! We booked over the phone as we know it gets really busy here. Greeted by friendly, professional and lovely staff! The breakfast was delicious and I would highly recommend the hot chocolate. Fantastic cafe, parking in Wickham square gets busy but it’s generally quite big you can pay by RingGo or cash.

Nice to visit in COVID times and staff were doing their bit. Nice food as always and finished off with a nice cake. Only Marked down as original service was really quick, but despite asking for a cake, needed to wait 25 minutes before giving up and going for a look(could have done a bit better). Most importantly the food was lovely.
