Staying in the hotel attached to here. What can i say. Service was superb Des is a true professional through and through. With a great attention to customer needs. I opted for the Christmas turkey dinner. Wow it was amazing. Cooked to perfection. I feel a little guilty as I couldn’t finish it. If you’re thinking of coming here. Do it. But make sure you have an empty belly.
Came in today with Family for a late lunch and it was yummy! It was busy, staff were stretched but doing their best and serving with a smile. Des went above and beyond to accommodate us - thank you Des!
Have give two stars as we eat all food as we where hungry , but not the tasties meal All staff very friendly and polite. They apologies serving mouldet Lemon , it is not everyones fault, just for some improvment I will add some pictures. Thanks
Did a Quick review of the menu whilst at Clarence pier end of portsmouth and found a very reasonable priced menu for late lunch/early dinner £6 meals for a family of 4 which was great value, nice portions and very nice food. All staff were very polite, made it an enjoyable visit. It was very clean and tidy and definitely recommend this to others.
Positives, lovely atmosphere, clean and relaxed. No steps at all from the carpark to inside the restaurant. Negatives, very poor quantity of food. The chicken dinner winner was appalling. My mother had a breast of chicken. 2.5 tiny roast potatoes and 3 pieces of roast carrot with gravy... no greens! My dad had the same but had a few peas. The plates were big and the meal just looked so lost. In fact one of the staff came to clear the table, just after the meals had been served as he thought they had finished !!! We did get an apology and free coffees to finish. If you go here ask and double check that all the ingredients for your meal are available before you pay just to avoid disappointment. I had a smothered chicken and it was really good with plenty on the plate and all the food beautifully cooked. It just confused my mother as to why she had a child size meal.
This pub has just reopened and we were greeted by friendly and cheerful staff ,shown to our table and told how to order. The food was very tasty and if you go Monday to Friday 12noon to 6pm they have 2 meals for £9.99 a real bargain when eating out. I would recommend booking as they were so grateful we had booked on the day due to be being extra busy.

Fantastic restaurant at the Clarence Pier. Staff were very friendly and the food was really nice. Also amazed at the size of the kids portion was brilliant (see photo). Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area.
Wanted some quick takeaway as we were getting onto a Hovercraft flight. Derek and team took great care of us, knowing exactly what to recommend for quick turnaround. Enjoyed our bites and pint! Everything was very clean and brand new as we were there first week of reopening after the storm related damage. Wish we were there longer!
