Came here for Sunday dinner and to watch the football. The football was very frustrating as the TV screen was constantly freezing but the meal was very good. Two had a roast and one gammon. Decent portions of tasty food and the puddings were great. The manager noticed we had our dog with us and gave him water and a cup of treats. Quite busy with a nice atmosphere.

Went for a saturday lunch with the family. Nice quiet and chilled atmosphere. The lunch was fab. Burger and chips, pie and chips and a couple of sides. Beautifully cooked especially the chips. Far to much. Chips came home in a doggy bag. Nice beer (Timothy Taylor Landlord). Waitress was amazing...Grace. We've been several times before and Grace has looked after us (and the dogs). Very friendly and can't do enough for you. Thoroughly recommended.

Best roast dinner we have eaten out in ages!! Fab portion sizes and was able to mix the meats instead of choosing one!! Beautifully crispy potatoes, big yorkies and the cauliflower cheese was perfection! Great selection of meats and cooked well for our taste. Nothing to complain about. Service was top notch. Staff friendly and keen to serve. Food came out quickly with all the accompaniments. Kids roast was fantastic portion too. Will definitely be back!! Thanks guys!! Next time will stay for pudding too!! Xx

Sir Joseph is brilliant for gluten free dining, including fantastic Sunday roast lunches. Booking advised. Addendum; 5th October 2025. For a family celebration (11 people) on a significant birthday for my wife, there is only one choice for stress free gluten free dining, Sir Joseph Paxton. As with my earlier review, the food and service here is exceptional, and the quality is maintained visit after visit. Everyone in the birthday party commented they had a wonderful roast lunch meal. Good portions, lashings of gravy, and followed by wonderful puddings for those partaking of sweet treats. Cost wise the food is excellent value. Well done Sir Joseph Paxton, we look forward to visiting again soon.

Classic privately owned pub with decent food and reasonable transparent prices. Definitely a 'local', but staff are still welcoming and helpful to all visitors. *Images correct as of 06/2025

Good value local pub with a wide range of hearty food and rear beer garden. Has a pool table and darts board. I had the homemade Chicken Balti Curry with chips, poppadom and mango chutney

Lovely local pub on my doorstep. There isn’t many places that make you feel welcome as much as this one does. The staff are all so friendly. Even in the hotter months, the brilliant owner gave my little one an ice lolly on the house which was so thoughtful. The food has never let us down, the events are always entertaining and it’s a good atmosphere in this pub. A bonus as well, it’s always so clean in there. 10/10 a pleasure coming down for drinks or lunch. My mum even loves it here, she holds good memories with this pub.
