I used to visit in the pub in the 1970s as a student before the old ladies passed. Still gas lights and much of the atmosphere.

Stunning interior, but 1 star off for the dull Sam Smith’s ale range, and the ludicrously draconian ban on electronic devices

The greatest real pub (= not modernised and stripped of all its soul and beauty) left in England. Utterly breathtaking! Gas lighting, 7 open fires and wonderful ales.

I thought with the pub taking card payment on devices they wouldnt mind me taking a photograph on my visit to this place i have looked forward to for years. The Samuel Smith management are nicer in Sheffield. Ssrah had been up since 6am waiting for the Dray i suppose

Very interesting and definitely very different from other places. Highly recommended for cozy stop for some drinks. Many doors, many tiny little rooms and they are very cozy to seat in with the fire lit in. Like all those good old village little inns. Highly recommend for visiting and have a drink or to.

A wonderful old pub. More of a step back in time to the 1700's Like an historical museum it's a joy to walk around. 1 hand pump beer an an array of Sam Smiths keg beers and bottles. Not as cheap as they used to be. All prices have gone up to suit the rest of Beverley. This is a non mobile phone pub, conversation is encouraged instead. No TVs. And I'm glad that they've got rid of the fruit machines. A good old fashioned pub that encourages old world values.

A veritable museum of a pub! USP... it's working gas lights. Hales Bar in Harrogate is the only other pub that I have frequented, that has working gas lights. This pub is a Sam Smith's, so usual rules and signage and cheap prices apply. Loads of different little rooms, all with wonky floors; lopsided, lifting floor tiles; peeling, flaking ceiling paint, all adding to its unique ambience. Lovely, friendly bar staff, very polite. Quite an experience, if you are visiting Beverley, you can't miss out the White Horse, it's fab and a real talking point. Well done, Humph!

Very old (still keeping good tho!), traditional & historical pub in beautiful Beverley. If you still believe that pubs/bars are about meeting people, talking, having a drink and a good time without phones & technology, well this is your place! Turn the phone back on just to take some unique pictures: this is a journey through History!

A pub with history. Original working gas lamps adorn the walls and ceiling of the pub, lots of old photos to look at and beautiful open fires to keep you warm. There is a strict "NO " phones, laptops, no texting, no taking photos, and trust me when I say the staff will call you out on it. They want their clientele to have good old conversations while in the pub. There are 2 floors to choose from and a great atmosphere where ever you choose to sit. It's local goers are a hive of information regarding the area and the best places to visit in Beverly
