Our stay at The Suite @ Abingdon Lodge was quite disappointing due to a major issue with the check-out time. Before our arrival, we received an email confirming that check-in was at 3:00 PM and check-out was at 10:00 PM the next day. However, while we were out touring the island, the owner called us and insisted that check-out was actually at 10:00 AM. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he blamed us for the confusion. Without giving us a chance to resolve the issue, the owner proceeded to clear out our belongings from the room and left them at the reception area. This was done without any notice, leaving us shocked and upset when we returned. The owner’s refusal to accept responsibility and lack of proper communication were highly unprofessional. To make matters worse, the property was not clean. The room was poorly maintained, with visible dust and dirt in several areas. Overall, while the location might be convenient, the lack of cleanliness and the unpleasant treatment we received make this a place I would not recommend.

The reception looked like someones junk room. The room was insecure, the key to the bedroom door was like an old shed key, the door outside the bedroom opened out to the back of the building onto dirty steps and gravel. I asked for the key to that door and I was told that it stays open all the time. The door was old. It wasn't even shut, you just pushed it to open. Th walls were dirty and damp damaged. The bedding was dirty, the pillow case was ripped, there were lots of cobwebs and long lines of dust hanging from the light fittings. The window was on ground level and looked out onto the car park where there was a picnic table with people socialising and smoking which was coming into the room. I called a mobile number as there were no staff on site after 6pm to say that I was unhappy with the standard and we felt unsafe. It was the own I spoke to who was incredibly rude and said I was safe because there is a police station nearby and he has NHS staff stay in the hotel all the time??? He said he would not entertain a refund at all because he had provided everything that he said he would on the website. He also said I should have complained earlier about the cobwebs as then he could have sent the receptionist in to clean it but after 6pm there is noone so noone was coming.(It was 7 pm). I did have a shower there, and dat on the bed but did not stay. I said I would pay for the first night and would like a refund for the second night eventhough I was not going to stay at all over night. He said no way because I got what I paid for. He was very rude. He said if someone else books my room for the second night then I would get some money back not all of it, but the hotel wasn't full so it was very unlikely. Absolutely disgusting, the room and the service. I left and got another hotel.

A very pleasant attentative gentleman escorted us to our parking area, which is very limited, when we arrived and to the room on the top floor and was very detailed in helping any way possible if needed. A very basic room, clean and tidy with an en suite shower, toilet, and basin. A Fridge. ,tea, coffee with a kettle available with a hair dryer in the drawer, and a TV that needs to be bigger to see anything and a poor quality image. The fridge was so very loud and kept me awake all night, so some improvement needed to correct this. The toilet also leaked water onto the floor in the en suite, which I reported. The lock on the door was so old-fashioned ( I have not seen that since the seventies) you could see into the room from the outside hall area, so I put a towel over the hole for privacy. A thumb turn lock on the inside needed, not a key for means of escape and a better lock for security needed. The rusty bin wants upgrading as well. Some of the wiring is also a little bit left to be desired. Cctv everywhere as you walk around, up the stairs too, which was encouraging for safety reasons. Overall, it is not too bad experience for the price and in a pleasant area to be in.

parking is a bit of a faff, and noise from street can be a tad noisey, but staff very helpful and friendly, could do with a chair in the bedrooms, some fittings were losely connected, TV and WiFi were fine.

Stayed for the night in an emergency when Storm Eunice prevented Wightlink Car Ferry from crossing. Wightlink very poor communication and service. There were 4 adults a 1 year old and 4 year old travelling with us. We managed to get a last minute booking at 5.40 pm. The owners, who do not live on site, welcomed us; were friendly and chatty. We had two rooms, both ensuite. The rooms were basic, clean, comfortable, tea and coffee in room, tv, hot shower and no signs of spiders which is always a big plus for me. Use of communal kitchen. Parking on site a bit squishy but all cars fitted on. Well stocked Co op 3 minute walk away. A safe haven in trying times, very grateful we were able to be accommodated. Thank you.

Basic but clean. There is a shared kitchen facility so you can cook which is good as most hotel stays mean you must eat out. Beds are comfy and our room had an en suite and telly as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Free parking on site and in a good location.

Paid a premium due to staycations for one room with a double, one with 3/4 beds. The double room had no window, was springs not a mattress and we both had chronic backache after the first night. We were offered a blanket to put under the mattress protector and other guests have obviously had the same experience. No proper kitchen to use, sink plug didn’t work, offered use of communal kitchen. Basically as expected they have packed as many people in there as possible.

I had an excellent stay here for 2 nights at the end of May. It is only 2 stars so it's nothing fancy or special but the accommodation was clean and although we arrived very late, the owners made sure that we could retrieve our keys to the property. The best thing about this place is that it's very close, within walking distance, to Ryde, it's town centre and the beaches there. The parking at the lodge is limited but there are some free road parking available within close proximity. The bathroom area isn't very nice but everything works and the place is perfect for a few nights stay on a budget if you're going to be spending most of the time outdoors anyway. Also, the walls were paper thin, and you could hear the reception and other guests pretty clearly which could be a problem if you're sensitive to noise. But all in all, the place is fine if you're not expecting too much.
