Extremely Disappointing Experience This has been the worst experience I’ve had with any letting agency. I strongly advise others not to go with them. They are just after your money. We paid the holding deposit and completed all the required paperwork. The referencing was done on time by a third party. Later, they suddenly asked for a guarantor, which we also provided without delay. Despite everything being done from our side, they kept delaying the process. And then they turned around and blamed us for the delay — which was completely unfair, as it was entirely due to their poor handling and lack of communication. In the end, they told us they were not proceeding with the property and refused to return the holding deposit. We waited over a month, hoping to move in with our three small children. The emotional stress and disappointment this caused us were overwhelming. Alwin, in particular, was extremely unprofessional and dishonest. He would often take days to reply to simple questions, and his responses were never clear. I have all the emails and proof of their poor communication and handling of our application. Please don’t trust this agency. They have no regard for people’s time, money, or well-being. Avoid them completely.

Can't fault them, from planning the viewing all the way through to handing over the keys I've never had a better experience with an estate agents. Callum was so incredibly helpfully and did everything he could to ensure we moved in on the day we needed. We had a very short timeline of a week to get everything sorted and they were fabulous. Hayley was so lovely on the phone and kept us updated the whole way and I've never had a more informed move in day thanks to alwin talking us through everything

I have rented my house with Alwin, Erica and the gang for almost 7 years. It's been an absolute pleasure living here. The people in the office are always friendly and ask how the family are etc. When we have had issues, I have found them to be responsive and fair. The contractors they employ have always been well presented and friendly, and get the job done efficiently. We're moving on now as our family has outgrown this lovely little house, my only regret is that Alwin didn't have a bigger house for us to move to. Thank you Alwin, Erica, Lorraine, Hayley and Callum. We really will miss you guys and we wish you all the very best.

I've been renting a student house with two friends for about seven months now, and thought this a good enough timeframe to leave an accurate review. I'm very, very satisfied of the way this agency handles things. On our side of the bargain, we're quiet students, we keep the house clean and we're quick to report something that doesn't work properly. On their side, whatever we report gets fixed promptly and effectively: my mattress caved in, I reported it and days later I had a lovely new spring mattress. The shower lost pressure and temperature, they replaced it within a week. We had an attempted break in around Christmas time, when I called in to report this the first words out of Alwin's mouth were "Whatever I can do to help you feel safe, let me know and I'll get it done". Alwin, Hailey, Erica, Callum and the rest of the team and contractors are kind, happy to help and never make me feel like I have to fight to get something done. Myself and the other tenants are so happy we decided to renew the property for another year! With regards to the one-star reviews, I haven't experienced anything remotely similar to what is described. Granted, I haven't moved out yet so I wouldn't know much about getting deposits back but if this will be handled even half as nicely as, frankly, everything else they've helped us with, I'm sure we'll get the deposit back without a hitch. I don't mean to invalidate other's experiences and reviews, I simply think it's important to keep in mind that just like many other things, the relationship between agents and tenants is a two-way street - you can't expect the agency to be nice to you without being nice to them in return. I will update this review if anything major happens or when I move out at the latest, but I believe it'll be smooth sailing and another very positive review from a very happy tenant.

I have been renting an apartment through this agency for 6 months now. I am very grateful to all the employees of the agency. This was my first rental. The employees are very responsive, helped with the registration process, and always answered my questions. When the boiler broke down in the apartment, they repaired it very quickly and fixed everything. Only positive reviews and recommendations from my side.

Very slow to respond to maintenance calls unless it was essential, frequently turned up at our house without giving 24 hours notice including construction, constantly told landlord would fix problems and he never did, good luck getting your deposit back from these guys to, if you left a box of chocolates for them they would charge you for removal, stay away!

We had a contract for a flat, they said it was no longer available and we decided we did not want to proceed with the replacement flat they had to offer. They decided in their own minds this means we forfeited the contract despite not having signed any contract on the replacement flat and they themselves forfeited the original by stating it was no longer available... Now they want to keep their deposit because we did not accept the replacement flat. Have to resort to a court claim against them to get it back. If you use Flats In Southsea, be ready to deal with Alwin and his own twisting of rules and bending of reality to suit his agenda. They will become very busy (suddenly and conveniently) and not reply to you for over a week once you start asking for something they don't like, such as small repairs they are contractually obliged to cover. The flat was nice however.
